CEC fans are boring, and East has a better band than rapids, so it was good imorapidsrapids wrote:Or was it "funeral-like" given CEC and Rapids were not there?mj79 wrote:I would say it was a "hockey-like" atmosphererapidsrapids wrote:What was the atmosphere at the DECC like today compared to say 3-4 years ago?

Attendance was significantly down, especially on the Elk River and Andover sides. Forest Lake had a nice turnout. Even the East side wasn't as full as it had been in years past.rapidsrapids wrote:Or was it "funeral-like" given CEC and Rapids were not there?mj79 wrote:I would say it was a "hockey-like" atmosphererapidsrapids wrote:What was the atmosphere at the DECC like today compared to say 3-4 years ago?

Maybe they shouldn't hold it at the DECC anymore!east hockey wrote:Attendance was significantly down, especially on the Elk River and Andover sides. Forest Lake had a nice turnout. I agree. Move it to the Allete Center or Paulucci Center or whatever the heck they're going to name the new DECCCB00 wrote:Maybe they shouldn't hold it at the DECC anymore!east hockey wrote:Attendance was significantly down, especially on the Elk River and Andover sides. Since Forest Lake, and then Andover were never really in either game competitively, the crowd was way down from a normal section semi-final crowd.
Elk River scored a short handed goal and that took Forest Lake's crowd down a notch from what started out pretty good.. their team (Forest Lake) wasn't as good physically as I remembered when they came to Cloquet and scored 8 goals. They got more physical in the third period but the game was out of reach for them by then.
I can't wait to see Cal Decowski play his college home games in Duluth. He spent at least 1/2 the game if not 2/3 of the game on the ice but didn't a lot of help from his teammates in their being shutout by East.
To me it wasn't the atmosphere of most section semi-finals we've seen with just the one area team making the semi's. A bunch of people there were in Duluth for the UMD/UMTC game and came to watch, besides a lot of the usual hockey fans that don't have ties to any of the teams. That creates a more muted crowd also when people are there to watch but aren't cheering either way. I'm not sure the attendance managed to creep towards 3000 overall between people leaving and new ones showing for the second game.
Slowly getting to some pictures from both games, might post some on Sunday after the gold medal game.

just curious why you have such a tight relationship with the staff. next time you l the horses are lead to the water and look at the reflection its not a knight in shining armour. just stating the obivious since the Assoc split ER,Anoka have better records. you have to place to Responsibility on somebody.
The task of the leader is to get his people from where they are to where they have not been."

Photos from 7AA Semifinals
The shorthanded goal in the first period by Elk River

East defense blocked shots all day against Andover, Jo Jo Jeanetta played well but got out of position a few times but always had 1 or 2 D to clear the puck
