the target center is huge. i doubt either will fill it but wouldnt edina bring a lot more followers to a section final than aha? i understand the hueg rivalry with jefferson and aha but would it outweigh the edina jefferson game?Slap Shot wrote:It's not the difference in selling out the Target Center big.HShockeywatcher wrote:Someone obviously has no idea how big the AHA/BJ rivalry in hockey is

It was sarcasm to begin with, sorry I didn't spell it out bigger.marchmadness wrote:the target center is huge. i doubt either will fill it but wouldnt edina bring a lot more followers to a section final than aha? i understand the hueg rivalry with jefferson and aha but would it outweigh the edina jefferson game?Slap Shot wrote:It's not the difference in selling out the Target Center big.HShockeywatcher wrote:Someone obviously has no idea how big the AHA/BJ rivalry in hockey is
It is hard to quantify the turnout to a rivalry between two big schools, who are both schools in affluent parts of cities, and the turnout to a bigger rivalry to a big school and one 1/4 the size of the other that (technically) has no city backing, although many would go to see them lose. Also considering it is a section final where many people go simply to see quality hockey being played regardless of the teams playing.
In conclusion, either way there will be a crowd, one that probably won't come anywhere near filling the TC, but the point of my original post was making a snide comment saying the bigger rivalry was bigger than the small rivalry in the section.

I disagree but in reality EP and Tonka will be the game with the numbers as there's ~4500 students between the 2 schools.Slap Shot wrote:No.marchmadness wrote:the target center is huge. i doubt either will fill it but wouldnt edina bring a lot more followers to a section final than aha? i understand the hueg rivalry with jefferson and aha but would it outweigh the edina jefferson game?Slap Shot wrote: It's not the difference in selling out the Target Center big.

Back in the 80's when I went to Jefferson, Edina was our rival (and Kennedy and Burnsville and....) HA was nothing. So the team that is going to bring me to the TC is Edina. May go if it's HA, but definitely will if it's Edina. #1 seed vs #2 seed could be a classic.marchmadness wrote:the target center is huge. i doubt either will fill it but wouldnt edina bring a lot more followers to a section final than aha? i understand the hueg rivalry with jefferson and aha but would it outweigh the edina jefferson game?Slap Shot wrote:It's not the difference in selling out the Target Center big.HShockeywatcher wrote:Someone obviously has no idea how big the AHA/BJ rivalry in hockey is
Jefferson/Edina could sell out, but not Jefferson/HA.
