Fairbault's defensive zone coverage was brutal and from what I heard, their best player, Bo Putrham or whatever it is, is a total one way hockey player. Josh Mensing, someone that I haven't heard anything about really was the best player on the ice today. I like the way the kid plays and his fourth goal to put the game away was awesome!!!!

I agree with you nipes, Mensing had a awesome game. He played on there first line last year with Schammel,P.Noesen. He was on the fist line this year and 5 or 6 games in they moved him to D. He has done a great job. Nice kid.

Hey Mensing! How's it going? Good luck to you and your team in the section final.

Oh and I also heard the Faribault goalie got caught smoking something green. No excuse considering the two goalies split time all year...but it is funny.

Since when is Mensing a college kid? I actually graduated from a rival high school of Red Wing but can appreciate a nice player when I see one, but I guess that's a crime.

Couldn't of put it any better nipeshow. It was really fun watching how well Mensing plays defensively and how he jumps into the play so quickly. He was the best player on the ice on yesterday, and supplied the dagger to seal the game by completely burning their defenseman. He will need to play the same way if the Wingers want win the section.

this is true. sure the goalies split time all year but the goalie that got busted was the one who had been their playoff goalie the past two years. i agree you cant make any excuses but that also doesnt help much. Forgaard played fine though. watching the game it looked like Faribault out played them almost all game it just seemed like Ryan Miller was in net for the Wingers. Great game sammy and good luck on thursday

dpsaucer5 I don't know what game you were watching but Faribault did not outplay Redwing whatsoever. Redwing beat them to every puck and were a bunch of garbage pail players on Saturday. Faribault tried to use there skill and attempted to skate the puck all the way up the ice on every possession. I think it mabye worked a couple times. I would not want to know the turnovers for Faribault in the neutral zone it would be astonishing. Redwing simply dumped and dumped the puck all game long after every turnover Faribault had. They just waited for there chances. I will agree Faribault definitely is more talented but that just didn't work in there favor on Saturday. They didn't work together which hurt them immensly. Redwing will be outmatched talent wise on thursday as well. Lourdes might want to have there team watch some film on how not to play against Redwing.

First off, Faribault did not even come close to outplaying RW. They had one line, and it seemed as if they played suck hole or were running a PP breakout with them every shift. I was surprised to see how bad the Faribault defensemen were too. Every time they gained control of the puck they just flung it into the neutral zone blindly. Amendolar did play a great game in net for RW. However, the shots were not a good indicator of who controlled the majority of play. Putrah seemed like the only offensive threat that Faribault had. RW's game plan was what it has always been. Sit back and play well defensively, and take what they give you. Not a run and gun game, which it seemed like Faribault's game is. Faribault was outplayed in every aspect of the game on Saturday.

Yes the goalie who did caught smoking the reefer (wont mention his name to save him some embarassment   ) played in 12 games this season and had a record of 8-4. The goalie who did play Forgaard played in 13 games and had an 11-2 record and from my understanding played more of the important games and had the better stats. So i think it was a non-factor. No Excuses! Faribault got outplayed, ouut hustled, and lost. its simple. Hats off to Red Wing on the win and good luck against Lourdes the "1" seed in the final
