the only freshman on that team who have any chance at going D1 is besse and i doubt he will. the others have no chancenipe 6 wrote:BSM is building for the future and will be very tough next year and will be a top contender for the state title in 2 years. Whoever called the coach an idiot for playing such young players must have had a kid that got cut from the team. Those younger players are pretty good and will be D1 recruits in the near future.mn man wrote:Dream onblueblood wrote:I wouldn't call them idiots, but it's obvious that they are building up for a run to challenge for the 6AA title in 2011-12 when the ep dynasty kids are gone.
So, you heard it hear first. BSM will be the #1 seed in 6AA in 2 years and be a top contender for the AA title
Best player of each section?

For goalies, Ford or Krueger b4 Meyers (he gave up 5 to Hopkins in the quarters).
Fons and Wilcox had much, much weaker teams in front of them and played much more difficult opponents - yet their stats weren't bad.
In reviewing Hockey Hub, and going back to that great Hill Murray game on FSN last December, Meyers showed some brilliant play that kept his team in or even tied or won a game. The stats also show some equally weak performance against weak teams that offsets some of that play.
Don't blame the team in front of Meyers. Goalies have to play the hand that was dealt to them and they get paid to stop pucks. Meyers has been the beneficiary of having strong teams in front of him through youth, elite league, and his high school years - Fons and Wilcox haven't and have performed well behind teams that aren't strong.
The BSM team in front of Meyers outshot their opponents 41-28 on average over the course of the year. Hopkins was outshot 34-31 on average, and SSP was outshot 29-28. Meyers did not have a weak team in front of him in context - not a top 10 team, but a solid team.
Meyers is a solid goalie but his stats for 09-10 can't be blamed on his team. Despite your unhappiness with BSMs coaching staff player selection this year, the BSM team in front of Meyers was head and shoulders above the teams thrown in front of Fons and Wilcox and you see no one making excuses for their team's .500 records or their stats.
With regard to Ford (team outshot opponents 37-23) and Krueger (team outshot opponents 34-21) - hard to know how good they are as they both have very solid teams in front of them. A highway cone in net could win most of their games with the teams in front of them.
Do you really think Alex Funk, a freshmen, is the best player in section 1A? you cant come up with anyone better? I know they were a bad team and had an easy schedule but its hard to argue the numbers someone like Dan Billiar put up for east. or putrah from faribault. Funk isnt even the best player on his own team. Brandyn Chezick is a better all around player and has more experience. Funk will be a very good player but he is definitely not the top player in the sectionGophs_Fan 12345 wrote:1AA Osterberg Lakeville south

Well due to the fact that Pennella has been sitting the last half of the year i dont think you can compare, Shaunessey is a solid goalie but without the superhouse team infront of him would he compare?northstars10 wrote:Mogren ahead of Rubbelke and god, if you don't feel for Pennella there is something wrong with you.gophs16 wrote:4AA

Gophs_fan, I have to agree with dpsaucer, Funk is and will be a good player but in this section and his own team there are better players. Vessel Chezick Lourdes.
Lourdes has a # of young talented freshmen and will be fun for some years to see how they develop. Certinly have contributed well this 1st year.
Putrah has been good and Redwing has 3 top players Noesen Mensing and Nelson. The section 1A game should be a good one.
