All-State Players
Does anyone know who made the All-State teams that were announced yesterday at the Ms. Hockey banquet?

We were there but to tell you the truth everyone stood up and then sat down so fast I was not able to write them down. Great group though at the A and AA levels.stagefright wrote:Joe Hockey.....You're letting me down. I thought for sure you would have my answer.
It is probably time for me to move on from this board as our daughter has now finished her HS playing days. I hope this Forum stays an active communications board and a way for younger players and thier parents to learn about options and opportunities in hockey during the HS season and outside of the HS season. We had lots of people help our daughter along the way and help us discover the same - I wish all of you the same.
Joe
Thank you for all of your posts and willingness to share the information you have over the years. It has been such a benefit to have you on the board. Hoping someone will step in and take over your role of balanced and knowledgable informant. Those will be big shoes to fill.
Thank you again for taking the time to share what you know. I know it has helped us - and I am sure it has helped many!
Wishing your family the very best as you move onto the next hockey sacrament.

There are at least 2 and maybe 3 All State. This is Pioneer Press which is different that the MGHCA announced at the Lets Play Hockey Banquet on Sunday in St. Paul (there was an A and AA)hockeywild7 wrote:PP 1st team AS

The list from the Miss Hockey Banquet is the result of voting by the coaches and is voted on by a ballot they receive from MGHCA. The Pioneer Press list is decided by sports writers and AP. The coaches have no input on this list. When my daughter was senior she was an all state first team selection by the coaches and honorable mention in the pioneer press list. I do not understand why MGHCA does not post their list on their website after the banquet. It will be in the next Let's Play Hockey however. For some reason the trib and PP don't print the list from the banquet either. To me the only one that should matter is the on the coaches vote on anyway. That is what is announced at the Miss Hockey Banquet. The coaches don't even know the results until the banquet unless they are a section rep. If a player is selected to the coaches list they get a letter ahead of time informing them they have won an award and should consider attending.

All - State players
I completely agree as the star trib and the pioneer press can only vote on the girls whose stats are represented on their site. I know from talking to many other parents that not all coaches update all sites so their is a huge discrepancy from site to site. Why can't their be one site for points, game scores, etc. so each girls stats are represented correctly? I think this would be a great idea as coaches have enough to do let alone trying to update all the sites.hockey_rocker wrote:The list from the Miss Hockey Banquet is the result of voting by the coaches and is voted on by a ballot they receive from MGHCA. How about actually seeing a couple of games or at least talk to coaches to see who's the best players in section state conference. stats alone don't tell who the top players are. who teams play and play for helps stats. I could put together a team of players not chosen for these awards who would beat a team with some of these selections.

I think about this every time I see a 15 to 0 score. When awards are given by stats alone its hard to blame a coach who has his first line out trying to rack up points late in these games. Lets face it there are only a couple conferences where top teams don't face completely over matched opponents in a fair number of games.
The same goes at D there are some great shut down players with not many points but if they don't get gaudy offense numbers they have almost no shot at postseason awards.

I agree completly. i would take a 2 way player or a defensive d over some of the so called all state players who score 4 pts against the little sisters of the poor. Who are these players scoring against? why don't we hear about these players in the summer? or fall why don't they score against the elite teams? Many of these choices are solid but a few are because of who they play for or pts they loaded up against weak teams. I feel bad for the girls who play for weak teams or girls who try to play more of a team game. and of course most northern teams.

Not referring specifically to any of the players named, but remember there still are solid hockey players who are 3 sport athletes, especially up north. Some do not have the time to participate 24/7 365 days a year in hockey, although they are invited.

Does any one have any birth years on these players. I know the Curtis girl is a 94 and a Soph. I am not sure she should be available for the All- State. This award should be for Juniors and Seniors.stagefright wrote:MGHCA 2009-10 All State
