AA Quarter: Roseau vs. #2 Edina

Post by clutterbuck22 »

Possibly the most intriguing 1st round matchup. Does Roseau have what it takes to pull of the upset? I'm going with Edina 4-3 OT.

Although this isn't your "normal" Ram team they send to a State Tournament, I just can't count them out. There is something about them and tournaments. Edina is great this year, but, Roseau somehow does things in the tournaments! I think it could be a good game, just not sure. GOOD LUCK RAMS!!!

Edina is a huge favorite. These teams haven't met since 1998 with Roseau winning that one in OT. I think Edina leads the all-time series between these teams at the tourney. Always a big matchup when you have the chance to knock off your biggest rival for all-time total State Championships.

Edina does lead the all-time series, 5-3. Only 8 meetings all-time really surprises me.

I conquer. No records, info about the teams, what time or date the game is played at. Shame.

At least the link to mine is there so people can still get that information 8)

The following was Written by: HShockeywatcher (Don't want to get into trouble for Plagerism!!!) There, now your info is on this post! I agree, I like your info!!

"This is the one match up in both brackets where the unseeded team has a better record than the seeded one. These two teams don't play each other too often; the last time they met at state was the 1998 quarterfinals that the Rams took 4-3 in OT. (I suspect it's the last time they've played too)

Edina has definitely proven much more with who they've played this season, but the 8AA team is definitely not one to count out as it was Moorhead last year who spoiled Edina's shot at a state semi-final game.

The winner is likely to play Blaine, who Edina has beaten by a goal twice and Roseau has lost to by a goal once.

Good luck to both teams"

Thanks for the info HShockeywatcher

Got to like Curt Giles coaching efforts this year. What a job getting back to the dance after losing some terrific players from last year's team.

I think Edina wins it. But, I always want Roseau to win when they get down to St. Paul. Fun to see the small town school that takes hockey seriously do well.

Should be a good game.

Residents of Roseau love hockey. They have basketball teams etc..... they have put out some strong football teams as well as baseball...but in the end, it is hockey that is truley king. Maybe the players aren't as athletic, maybe they didn't play twin cities teams every week, maybe Edina's school has more students enrolled than Roseau has citizens...doesn't matter....Roseau has great hockey players.

Don't hate on Roseau just because they ended the season of your precious spuds. They have some very talented players so give them credit, and with Kvidt playing a good game they have a chance against this Hornet squad.

Let's not forget what hockey players do in the Summer.....Roseau has more appearances in the State Boys golf tournament than any other school in Minnesota. There's a little known fact.......

Gonna say the same thing I said at this time last year: "Edina will win & it ain't gonna be pretty for the other team". We all know what happened then. C'mon Sheep - your turn !

The first line for Roseau will have to come big time for Roseau to have a chance. Roseau's defence is average at best and will be tested all game. I don't think they have much of a chance, but then again, I didn't think Moorhead had a chance against Edina last year.
