It is also sad they are comparing the scoring records they are setting to the single class and AA ones.

Trust me, I know New Ulm ... IF they could catch them, they would.

this wouldnt be a problem if all private schools stayed at single A in the first place. They started the problem by moving themselves up-idiots
And how would this change who came out of 3A (Western and SW Minnesota)?
Maybe NU would have played the Flying Reillys or Hill Murray?

How much of the difference is the result of seeding the top 4 teams and almost guarenteeing at least one major mismatch? Look at what might happen in game 3 tomorrow in AA.

I'm not a fan of the private schools but that discussion is 35 years old so it's time to move on. You either need to accept that by having regional representation you'll have some much weaker teams or rebalance the sections and never get the New Ulms in the tournament.

Coach Larson interview: They'll forget about this one and move on. Nice.

The score wouldn't have been so bad if New Ulm didn't quit for the last half of the game. They were just standing around watching Breck embarrass everyone.

It should be noted that the Mustangs top line never stepped on the ice in the third period and the fourth line started playing a regualr shift halfway through the second period. No offense intended to NU but any one of the other three (public) seeded teams would have likely had a similar outcome.

I think we are in for the same kind of potential thrashing toningt when Minnetonka thumps the boys from the North side of Lakeville.

I am not going to get on my soap box and tell the Brecks, Blakes and STA's of the world that they need to opt up. I will say that getting these teams out of Class A would help increase the attendance of the Class A tournament. Look at how many people teams like Albert Lea, Little Falls, Hermantown and other small public schools bring to their quarter final games at the X. Breck and STA have no town to be proud of them. If Red Wing and Mahtomedi were to meet up in the quarters, the lower bowl of the X would be full vs a Lourdes/STA game. Just a thought.
Well, we had the "All Public/No Private" quarterfinal session you noted yesterday afternoon; attendance was about 5400. The evening session with two private schools involved was about 4200; not much of a difference.

If I concede your argument of "No town,No pride" for lack of support and interest regarding private schools, how do you explain only 5400 people showing up to support Mahtomedi, Alexandria, Hermantown and Virginia?

Maybe it's because the game is played on a wednesday and the outstate fan's couldn't take off half a week of work. Add to that an off day on thursday and a lot of fan's choose to take in the first one on tv and head for the x on friday... big $ difference in skipping one day of work and paying for one night in a hotel vs skipping three days of work paying for hotels wed, thurs, fri plus all of the eating out.
