Man, you gotta feel bad for the Hill-Murray kids... Even thought I wanted Tonka to win, it sucks that either team has to end their season like this.

As a WBL fan, I usually enjoy watching Hill Murray lose. But I even feel bad for them tonight. They played fantastic, and deserved to win that game! They were the better team, and took it to Minnetonka all night long. Kruger had the game of his life, and Minnetonka is playing in the championship tomorrow mainly because of him.

Congratulations Minnetonka, and hopefully you have some some left in the tank for Edina tomorrow night.

Yes great game. Got to give credit to the refs for calling a great game and not putting the refs in the spotlight like most do. By the way, Hill Murray is currently a trending topic on twitter.

I hope they cant take out edina as well.. Even tho not near the rivalry as you guys and HM, East has always had that north / south rivalry with hill and in the late 90s when I was at east , it was always considered to us a "big game " rivalry...

Never thought I would EVER feel sorry for HM.. Must be starting to get sensitive in my old age

I dont know if its just because they've played several games, but in my opinion hes not playing like a complete player. The U definitely does NOT need this type of player, especially after tonights game up in UND..
Its the 7th period dude get real. No one is playing 100% except the net minders.
I was listening on the radio. Saterdalen made a similar observation, but then noted that Gardiner had mono...

Great game. It sucks to lose a game like that though. Should be a good championship tomorrow.

It was hard to decide who I was rooting for, I had Minnetonka winning in my brackets, and I am a WBL student with a dislike (purely rival stuff) for HM.

I was switching sides on and off, whatever the case HM deserved to win. Kruger was incredible, and Timmy played great as well.

In the end, I was just rooting for bedtime!
Always celly hard.

Did anybody see the two or three Minnetonka girls that looked like they were about to flash some guys? I swear to God, after the goal just wait and you will see these girls pulling their shirts up in the student section. Nothing comes of it, so maybe they were just hot and getting some airflow, but I would like some opinions on the matter.

WOW - What a fantastic game to watch ! Haven't had that much fun since Moorhead beat Elk River in the 4th O/T for 8AA Championship in '94. Hats off to the Pioneers & hope the Skippers have enough left for the Hornets.

Just got home a little bit ago. I'm exhausted from that one. Tough loss for the kids, but they played a great game against a team that no one gave them much chance of beating. Hope they have something left for later today and they can bring home some well deserved hardware.

Hill just learned what it's like to outplay another team (BADLY) and still lose. Have to say that was a solid effort by every line for Hill. When Tonka kid walked around Casto (over-rated JJ makes him look better) I thought this would be a run-away.

Kruger was the difference, calm, cool collected.

Gardiner will fit in just fine with the Gophers, they are the kings of half arsed efforts.

The French kid played a nice game, kid had the puck on his stick and was threatening every shift.

Clay Matvick is by far the worst play-by-play guy ever! Every shot that came from the point was by Casto, he must be able to shoot both ways and switch sticks during the play.

HM - Tonka

Post by stpaul »

Just got home from the Xcel. What a great game. Both goalies were outstanding. Both teams played with great skill, speed and incredible effort. Not a single penalty. I couldn't be more proud of Hill-Murray - it's Coach, it's team, students, fans & band. Congrats to Minnetonka. HM was the better team in regulation but Tonka was better in the OT. This will be remember as one of those all time great state tournaments games. Tough to lose but it makes you realize how special and hard it is to win a state championship.

Or maybe they kept up with them just fine.

Urick? I thougt Adam Sandler was the Minnetonka coach..?
No, he's their waterboy.

Bo Bo... I said the exact same thing everytime they showed his mug on the scoreboard...

Just got home.. Wow!!

I know I gave Bill Lechner my vote as the best coach in the state a couple months ago. I walked away convinced he is.

When I sat there that third period, and witnessed the only shot on goal for Tonka came from outside the blueline, and how incredibly disciplined, controlled and absolutely near perfect hockey H-M played, all I could think about is how I wished we have that type of coaching 6 miles north of H-M.. What did Tonka have after 3 periods?? 10, 11 shots??

I am proud of the effort to a man for both teams, and Tim Shaughnessy was fantastic tonight in goal for H-M. It was a great heads-up play by the Tonka player, and a tough goal to give up in that circumstance, but there's no need to hang any heads...

Kruger faced a lot of shots, but it was clear H-M was just dumping the puck in on goal, as the vast majority of shots were from above the circles... H-M couldn't pound the net like they wanted to do, and credit Tonka's stellar defense..

Both goalies made some incredible saves, but Kruger's sprawling glove save was the bomb.... May just very well be the save of the tourney.

I was sitting above the colorful gorillas at club level, right underneath the H-M student section, and I know we have an incredible student section at White Bear Lake, but they were just absolutely awesome tonite.

Hats off to the Tonka section, as they nearly filled the entire upper deck behind the net..

Play like champions boys, take the 3rd place trophy and make us proud. Hell of a game, you are part of history.

On a side note, the kids decked out in completely Stillwater hockey gear cheering for HM and yelling how badly they wanted to play for HM someday made me smile. The pipeline is never gone ;)

Wow, I have mad respect for both teams, they played their hearts out. Its sad after that much time someone had to lose. But both teams should hold their heads up high because I don't think everyone expected the game to be as close as it was.

Glad they could be there to help you fill up the stands, I know you run a little short in that catagory too. See they will go Cheer for some of those guys, not all of them are classless.

Youngy, I didn't see the Ponies kids there, but on behalf of the WBL people, my hats off to your kids that went and supported H-M, too..

I know I get crap from my WBL people about being a H-M fan, but..... it really is pretty easy to do when you see the effort and quality of play.

PPG, pioneers, sachs man, northsider and all the other H-M fans out there, I tip my cap, and I will never be ashamed to say I am a H-M supporter.
