I mean its over unless a miracle happens. Simply stunning. It just wasn't to be this year for Tonka. (just like last year for Edina, just the way it goes...)

Anyhow congrats on a great year for Tonka too.
this is also another reason I thought Wayzata deserved to be there instead of tonka.. They would have performed much better.. Tonka hasnt even impressed me once this tourney.. Except for the goalies performance against hill
Wayzata deserved to be there? Based on...
based on what??? Are you serious? They beat edina 3 times and tied tonka 2 times.. One of the best tems Ive seen all year, BY FAR.... Do some research before you ask dumb questions

 Please. They lost in sections. They had their chance, just like Minnetonka and Edina.

No fat lady at the X yet. 2 down 2 or 3 to go Skippy's.

Congrats Edinia. Also congrats to tonka who had a great season. The 09-10 season is officially over, and who knows what next year will bring?

Yes, congrats to Edina for having the best team in the state this year. They beat Tonka twice with great team efforts. No doubt about this being the #1 team.

Congrats to Tonka too on a great year. 27-2-2. Nice.

They add a tough to get Section 6 title and a 2nd place finish at state.

That's the best finish in school history.

Just couldn't quite get it done in the end.

Great season. It will be fun to see how Prochno, Gardiner, Hesketh and Holl do in the WCHA in the next few years. And it will be interesting to see where Krueger ends up.

Tonks returns some good players next year and the upcoming 10th graders are good, but it will be a rebuliding year after all the talent that's headed off to juinors and college.

Nice job guys!

No, they didn't look better all year than both teams but believe whatever you want to believe.

Put it in the books. Bodyshots predicts Tonka wins it all next year. Here's why:

Last year Edina had all the D1 talent and couldn't get it done. Now they come back with no pressure and win it all. This year Tonka has all the D1 talent and can't get it done. Next year they will have no pressure and will win it all. That is of course, if they can beat the East Metro All Stars again in the finals.

That seems like a somewhat decent prediction, but next year is a LONNNNG way off...

Prochno's late push made for one of the best AA finals in years (not saying much); it was a fun night at the X for all, despite the result. Edina won title #10 with speed and the defining trait that all the recent state champions have had--great team defense that shut down the opposition's stars and makes life much more comfortable for the goalie. Their speed and forechecking gave them enough chances to build a lead, and they capitalized. Congratulations, Hornets.

Credit Tonka with a great year as well. It's not easy to wear that #1 target all year long, as Edina can attest. Skipper Nation has every reason to be proud of their team--good luck to all those senior stars in the future, and they return a solid core for next year too.

The student sections were large and pretty good, 216 was up to its usual antics, the beach balls were bouncing all night, the green monkey put in an appearance on the Edina side, the 'Skipper Nation' towel is a keeper, and I loved the goal light inside the Edina tuba. Hard to ask for much more.

Let them eat cake!

Congrats Edina!

Number 10 (or I suppose number 7, depending how you count) was a long time coming. When you started getting hot at the right time, I kinda had a feeling, but I was afraid to say it out loud (or in type). I was definitely very impressed the way you played in-your-face hockey the entire tournament. Very fun to watch, and you have made me a proud alum!

Here's to continued success in 10-11!

Wayzata was one the 4 best teams all year but they didn't get the job done. If we had a BCS system they may have been in the championship, but we don't thank God. This isn't a regular season competition, you gotta show up tourney time like Edina, Hill-Murray, and Minnetonka did. I actually really like Wayzata to be a potential state champ next year with McIntyre in net, Klein, Cameranesi, Lucia, Jones etc. coming back. It will be fun. They really need to even sections 2-6 up, but I don't think that will happen anytime soon.

6-1 tonka
And then they dropped the puck. Minnetonka had a great team this year. They did not play their best hockey at the end.

I didn't think Edina was weak this year. Lacking superstars they had a complete team. Kind of like the last Hill team that won.
Be kind. Rewind.
