oh dont worry, im sure you have a better defense than "I was on a team that took 3rd place at state and scored 2 goals!" for being all high and mighty in 216.

This was just overheard no one I know was involved. So to the youngman with the quick whit... Bravo. Well done.

But in the Hill Spirit, we will take credit for anything. So yes we developed his talent, he would have never been in this sitiuation without us. We just bring out the best in everyone, the lord was watching over us, see we have more Catholic's at Stillwater then Hill has anyways.

At Hill, we don't claim to have more Catholics, we claim to have better players, and more championships. :D

If their programs were any good the players wouldn't leave. HM offers the best opportunity to play in the state tournament, none of the others can do that. Since the MSHSL opened the doors to the private schools, I don't believe there is another team that has gone to State more than Hill-Murray. Bottom line is, your odds are better at Hill. All we hear is that playing in the state tournament is a dream for kids & those that have, say it's one of their biggest thrills. People flock to Hill to experience this dream & most of the time it is realized. If you build it, they will come. Hill has built it & they continue to come! And after this weekend, more will apply. Playing in the high school hockey tournament is such a wonderful recruiting tool.

Isn't that a double-edged statement? If they stayed wouldn't the programs be better? See the programs that lose the players have to REBUILD vs the RELOADING Hill does. You get the top you better be able to play at the Top level. Lets not beat the horse any more, East Metro teams aren't big enough to over-come losing thier top players every year.

Some Edina fan after the game kept saying, " No one ever gave these guys a chance, this in unreal!!"

I can understand with the players that they lost last year people were overlooking them, but I think it is safe to say that every year Edina has a chance.

If you think "Back to band camp" to the H.M. band isn't original, funny, nor good, I wanna hear what your student section chants! I for one have never heard that chant.

Youngy, you still don't get it. The players weren't yours to begin with. Please list the players who actually left playing for another high school to play for Hill.

I agree with PPG here. I know a lot of players on the team and I know that most if not all of them knew they were coming to Hill at a young age. But I disagree with you that they go to hill just because they have the best chance of making it to the state tournament. I know this might be the case for a select few of the players but I believe that most of the kids are border-line forced by their parents to go to Hill because it is one of just a few accredited high schools in MN. They offer a very good education and an extremely high graduate to college percentage.

I realize that Hill certainly has had kids in the past that have gone there just for hockey. But anyone in their right minds would realize that if recruiting was actually going on, there would be NO WAY that some kid who got recruited wouldn't have come forward eventually through the years and said "Lechner promised me a spot, but then he cut me!" If that happened everyone would know about it.

Basically what I'm trying to get at here is everyone wants to go to state if they play hockey, but not everyone that leaves their association goes to a private school like hill. There are a lot of kids who use open enrollment to their advantage and they are the ones who are going to school for hockey. Hill has good families and good students, just as good as the rest. Not better or worse. And the players there dont deserve anymore criticism than the rest of the hs hockey world.
