Woodbury's banquet is on March 16th so there may be a least a partial list after tomorrow. I'll keep you posted.Goldfishdude wrote:wbmd...... the WBL banquet is scheduled March 23rd, and it seems to me that the Suburban East Conference team wasn't announced publicly until after our banquet.
I could be wrong, and/or the banquet may be scheduled later this year than last year...

Thanks, sykie.... My guess is that the WBL banquet was earlier last year, about this time after the tourney. One would think that the all-conference teams have been accumulated, since the all-metro teams have been done.Sykes wrote:Woodbury's banquet is on March 16th so there may be a least a partial list after tomorrow. The SEC all conference list was not released at the Woodbury Banquet only the Woodbury players were announced.

Walker Hyland - D
Mike Ness - G
Honorable Mention
Connor Delaney - F
SEC Forward of the Year
Max Gaede
SEC Goalie of the Year

There was one additional honorable mention and I want to confirm before I add the name.

Congrats to these guys, and especially to Max and Ness.. Ness was my mid-season favorite for Goalie of the Year, and Max seemed to finish really strong.Sykes wrote:The SEC all conference list was not released at the Woodbury Banquet only the Woodbury players were announced.

This info just is puzzling...
Christian Gaffy was named to the 2nd Team Pioneer Press All-State as a goalie for FLake, yet Ness wins SEC goalie of the year ahead of him..
And Mark Alt is a finalist for Mr. Hockey, only is awarded Hon Mention by Pioneer Press and not on the Star-Tribune list.
It does not surprize me in the Pioneer Press and SEC selections. The Press selects a few players based on play and reputation then it goes immediately to stats which for the most part was supplied by Hockey Hub. Ness' hockey hub stats were down because he was credited with 2 games that he did not play that really lowered his stats. Also with all the budget cuts at newspapers in general, they do not have the sport writers that have the time to judge first hand who is deserving of the awards. They just have to get them out.Goldfishdude wrote:Congrats to these guys, and especially to Max and Ness.. With that said Gaffy had a great year for Forest Lake and was very deserving of the Pioneer Press award and he had a great impact on his team's success. I am sure it was a very close SEC Goalie award vote. I think one thing that I have seen in the SEC Goalie award over the last several years is it is not just about stats. The coaches get to see all the goalies, see how they perform, and how they fit within the success of their team. Also the SEC award is more than are they just a good goalie statwise. Paul Moberg received the award last year and deserved every bit of it and yet his stats were not top in the SEC (His sav % was second which shows how good a goalie he was)
Also the Star Tribune tends to be pro-west and the Pioneer Press pro-east and conference awards tend to take into account the whole varsity career expecially if they are seniors. Just some thoughts......

Kyle Rau had a great year... 38 G AND 77 PTS... Kyle Osterberg from LV South was next with 57 pts. The fact that Osterberg is just in 9th grade is nuts!!!!!.. That's a pretty huge separation in points, though...keepyourheadup wrote:WOW..10 underclassmen in the Lake, thats a bunch.
Congrats to my boys from White Bear Lake...
