Burnsville, you took a dump against St. Thomas and almost lost... Number two in state? We were the 2 seed and you were the 4 seed. We got second. Sure you took them to two overtimes but the game we played was 2-1 till an empty netter. Basically a one goal game such as yours. Third place is still good dude, accept that you are third best in state. The real championship game is the last game played in the season and the 1st and 2nd place trophies are given out. Sounds more like the game we played in was the real championship.

Woodbury 2nd
Burnsville 3rd
What color is your medal? Bronze, therefor you got third :)

For junior Gold b, yes that is the best record.

woodbury your a good team but being seeded doesnt mean PLEASE BAN ME in that tourney. if they sorted it like the do for high school we would have had the 2 seed and im pretty sure we would have had a 2 goal win against you if we played. your good but you dont deserve 2nd. you play in the west insted of district 8 next year, take the road we had to and see how well you do.... i watched you play gold out worked you so badly and you have one kid that can actually skate and thats #20 if he had hands he woulda have put that penalty shot in but he doesnt and the rest of your team isnt that great. you can claim 2nd in state but the rest of the state knows we were the 2nd best team thorught the entire year. what were you guys ranked during the year besides that one fluke week???

I’ve been reading the stuff about who is the #2 team in the state. I’ve never posted and I know I’m not going to change anyone’s opinion but here are some things to think about (I’m not a player on either team – this is just my take based on what has been posted so far);

1. If you don’t win the championship, does it really matter where you finished? Wayzata Gold clearly deserved to be #1 this year and may have had the best Jr Gold B team of all time.

2. Mermaid Man made a great point on March 23rd about the Wayzata Jr Gold A team. IBleedJGB12’s also had a good post on March 9th that compared Woodbury, Burnsville, and Edina. The Burnsville players should read these.

3. Burnsville’s own website says they got third place in the state tournament.

4. Both Burnsville and Woodbury played Edina White. Woodbury beat Edina 4-2 and led the entire game but Edina took Burnsville to OT. Based on Burnsville’s logic, that makes Woodbury better than Burnsville.

5. Woodbury feels they are the #2 team because they finished 2nd in the state tournament. Burnsville feels they are the #2 team in the state because the Burnsville players say they are. Seems like Woodbury has the better case.

6. Maybe Burnsville would have beaten Woodbury and maybe they are a better team but we'll never know. Kansas probably feels they are the best team in college basketball but they are sitting at home. You don't see them whining about it.

7. The final ranking should be based on the actual games played in the state tournament and not based on the opinions on this board or the LPH rankings? If so, Woodbury is #2. Get over it.

Whoreallycares, extremely well said. And also, burnsville, we played woodbury 3 times this season, and this was not woodbury at their best. It's pretty sad, but they got so caught up in the refs, they forgot they were in a state championship hockey game. So you can't just watch a team once, and say they didn't deserve to be there, they obviously didn't get there cause they were lucky when they played Gold to three 1 goal games.

And another point that noone has brought up, Burnsville probably should have gotten beat by STA, they got outplayed pretty much the whole game.

But seriously, season is done, burnsville and woodbury are both good teams, but gold won and thats all that matters. Have a good offseason boys, quit arguing over second place. Its over

No one cares who came in second. But a silver medal means second place in my eyes. Don't know how you could argue otherwise.

Thank you to everyone who put a valid point in towards who was second best. I agree, we got caught up in the referees and their calls. Bad game to do so, I will also agree we were not our best and it is sad that we couldt even focus on how big the game was. Gold was best obviously, great season boys. You earned it!

If your not first, your last is a saying i've heard, and had to live by last year at the Rochester State Tournament. so tough luck boys but better luck next year to all. Woodbury and Burnsville are two different teams with different styles of play. Burnsville is more of a fast finesse team whereas Woodbury has big defense and clog up their defensive zone more and have speedy forwards. Burnsville's goalie kept them in a lot of games so major props to him, along with number 14. I felt that in the state tournament Burnsville played us closer that is true, but to be honest, didn't we outshoot all 3 teams we played by a large margin? good luck next year boys

Hey if you are one of the seniors on Burnsville at least you won your final game in the Gold and Black. If you would have gotten second you would have lost your last game. Personally I enjoyed winning my final game in the Blue and Gold last year. I mean yeah it would have been nice to play for the 'ship but you got to end your careers with a W. BE HAPPY!!!

A lot of people are saying Woodbury played bad and were focused on the refs but the game with Wayzata looked close (by the score). Did Wayzata not get a lot of shots?

It's all good MermaidMan haha. I understand what you mean, to lose in my last game sucks.
Wayzata had 30+ shots I believe, but our goalie played really well. It was a close scoring game, but we were really outworked by Gold.

woodbury if your goalie didnt play so good it would have been a high scoring game for gold but i felt that the championship game was on saturday, playing both teams bville would have won the ship if it wasnt for us

thanks shutout. you guys were amazing this year and if you noticed we havent been saying anything since thursday. we know we got second, others know we got 2ndso its done with. to all you guys on gold who weren't seniors i hope your on j gold next year and get another chance to have a game like the last one.

well we played them earlier and beat them 5-0 and we had a bad game against them in state but it doesnt matter cuz we won. you play in D8 if we woulda played in it we would have gone undefeated just look at who you have st thomas who lost their two games in state is the 2nd best team you have thats pathetic. try even moving to JGB east and if you can do well in that then maybe id consider you playing with the big dogs in west. bottom line we know we are truely the 2nd best team and so does everybody else. the rankings have showed it all season long and so does everbody else in state

So blame me for living in Woodbury and having to play in D8. Sorry I don't live in a city that plays in the west or east regions. All I can say is we got second and we earned it. We were good, certainly not best because Gold was godly. Screw off jvail and keep thinking you were second place bud. l

you know burnsville all you are complaining about is what side of the bracket you got placed on. face it, you both lost to Gold. maybe if you would have wanted to be on the other side of the bracket you should have played better during league play??? (although, you probably wouldn't have made it to the championship anyway cuz you would have lost to Woodbury in the semifinals. so you still would have been third)
