I saw a Hudson, Wisconsin U16 game in person the other week.

They absolutely dominated the previously unbeaten and #1 ranked Minnetonka U16 team!

As embarrassing as that was for the Minnesota players, they had to be more embarrassed by the low class behavior of their own coaches and parents.

No offense to lower classes.

Ok, when did this game occur? Minnetonka was clearly the best U16 team that we saw all year long and from what I saw the parents were very cool. I find this hard to believe.

I'm not knocking Hudson's team at all, we were lucky to salvage a tie against them at the last second. Very good team, I have much respect for Hudson's program.

Just before the district/state playoffs (I watched from the penalty box) ...

it must have been easier for Tonka to keep its cool when beating Stillwater ...

rather than during a lopsided loss to Hudson.

P. S. Hudson's goalie was a girl ... Minnesota's best team got beat by a girl ... a Wisconsin girl.

Everyone knows anyone of the top 5 teams from the WCHA could be in the same position that Wisconsin is when thrown in the same regional. They beat a Vermont team that is only 3 games above the .500 mark, then beat SCSU (#3 seed of the WCHA tourney and finished 4th, but quite the up and down team), and beat a cinderella team in RIT. I am not a big gopher fan, but to bring this up as part of your argument is ridiculous. Let that Hudson team play in a series with MN and well see who comes out on top. Like they say, even a blind squirrel will find a nut every once in a while.

what is it about crossing the St. Croix River ...

that makes Minnesota players who move to Wisconsin better than those who just visit?

Well, they have a great coach who gets recruits from everywhere. That, and I think the ones who cross the St. Croix are pretty good before they go there (McDonagh & Gardiner were 1st round picks and I think Stepan went in the 2nd). They also get a lot of guys, even the high draft picks to stay 3-4 years.

Just one theory. Maybe you're right though, maybe Wisconsin is just a better hockey state

Dude,

Look at the roster. All the studs on that team are from Minnesota or Canada. The fill in players are all from Wisconsin though.

Yeah because that has EVERYTHING to do with the talent of Wisconsin H.S. hockey...

I always thought we were called the State of Hockey because of the tradition and excitement of MN H.S. hockey and the MN State H.S. hockey tournament...?

Yes. And Florida isn't much of a football state, since the Dolphins haven't won a super bowl in 40 years or so...

Florida should be the State of Hockey

with more Stanley Cups and twice the NHL teams compared to Minnesota!

Plus, didn't Miami make the NCAA final just last year?

ilbok, i agree with you that MN doesn't have the right to call themselves the state of hockey, but you are digging yourself a ditch here bud. Miami of Oxford, OHIO made it to the NCAA"s. Clearly showing to us all just how much you actually know about college hockey. Do us a favor and give your head a shake.

What are you trying to prove? Minnetonka U16? what is that? You simply can't argue with the things that Minnesota hockey does, and the players that we produce. If you want to make an argument, do it by backing up Wisconsin...That just seems to be too hard though. And now you're taking shots at the Wild? Too bad we have sold out every game, even if we aren't going to make the playoffs...Talk once there is actually an NHL team in Wisconsin, until then stay off the MN hockey board. Although, I understand you coming on to our website to talk hockey, because god knows that there isn't one in wisconsin.

that must be the reason Minnesotans of late seldom leave their State of Hockey ...

They did leave. The Beavers and Huskies were apart of the NCAA tournament. Two teams from Minnesota is not too bad. One more win By the Bulldogs and they would have been in the tournament.
