It will be interesting to see how FL does next year. I think they snuck up on people this past year but they also played with some nice talent. They have some solid 10th graders who will only get better. I think they learned that the SEC was an average conference last season and they got exposed in sections. I see them competing to win another conference title, but I don't see them getting through a difficult section. I look for East to return to State next year & take a run at the whole thing.

I sure hope you're right. :D

No doubt Flake has a solid sophomore class, but I'm curious to see how much they'll miss Fick. I agree with your comments on the SEC; as for 7AA, ER will drop off some but probably stays in the picture, while Cloquet and especially Grand Rapids will be on the rise again.

East will be (as they so often are) the favorite, but I'm not sure by how much yet.

I'll jump in . We have a kid that played bantam A is playing selects right now will help out on D Jack Schmidt. [Certainly no danny] I feel the other senior D was very good as well Waldock is his name. Those two and two forwards are the only skaters moving on. Skoog split with Gaffey and should step up. Coach told the kids that hardest workers will get the opened spots.Five or six kids should compete. I think SEC,and, 7AA will both be top notch. [maybe not the best, but hold their own with any others]

Hill-Murray and Duluth East will have the best chance for the State AA title in my opinion, both teams were deep, strong, and will be returning the majority of their team.

And don't rule out Edina or EP, as Edina is always strong, and EP has a group of Seniors that have been very successful in the youth ranks.

Forest lake still has depth even without fick, gaffey, or waldoch. obviously they'll greatly missed but the top two scorers will be returning. No doubt everyone will get better in the offseason. Forest lake has always been a hard working team but i've never seen such a hardworking group in a long time. Flake will be a top contender in the SEC as well as 7AA next year. it'll be very interesting to see what happens next season[/quote]

For 2010 Title

I see EP here given their past record here, however, don't rule out a Wayzata or Edina team. EP, if the Rau's return should be the favorite here with a healthy returning team of seniors and senior Ford in net. Edina will win their district. Blaine and Tonka lost a lot of seniors. If EP can get past Wayzata, I think its EP's chances for a 2nd title. Apple Valley and Eagan needs to be considered.

They have handled the pressure in their previous youth champianships, and comparing last years Woodbury team to next years EP team is like comparing the Yankees to the Royals.
Yeah, I get your drift. But comparing a Johnny-come-lately program like EP, to a storied program like WBL, is like comparing the San Jose Sharks to the Montreal Canadians.
WBL more storied than EP? I don't know if you can get by saying that since EP has won more state titles than WBL and you're throwing the more storied card out there? give me a break! I saw a few WBL dads wearing hats at a youth game that said "white bear hockey" on the front and along the side it said "40 years of excellence"..... Does anyone else find this funny?

We are talking YOUTH programs, something you (HM) would know nothing about. Would you like to compare the number of YOUTH championships between WBL and EP. Not even close. But, I will give EP credit. They are STARTING to produce a very nice and successful youth program.

Would you like to compare the number of HIGH SCHOOL championships between WBL and EP? Probably not. And I can't even really give the high school team credit because it doesn't even look like they're starting to get close to contending.
EP two out of three.
