REC Center in Rochester has a new look.

Post by clutterbuck22 »

For all of the teams that came and didn't like the REC because of the ice surface, good news. They have redone the ice surface and the boards. They are using pro style glass now for the tournaments coming in the next two years. should be iteresting to see what it looks like now.

The only thing to do with that ice is to add chillers. . . it is the worst surface in Southern Minnesota. It's way too soft!!! Based on the big cut out section during the winter, I presume they had a leak in one of the pipes? What did they do to improve the ice?

I guess the drained the ice, put new sand in, and resurfaced it. From what I heard it is a lot harder than it was before.

I stopped in to take a peak. New boards look good and ice looks great with fresh colors etc. Had not put up the glass yet but hope it's an improvement for the ice and hardness.
