Looks like a nice tourny. One thing I noticed is no Blades. Do they ever play in this event?

Thanks, I see the Waterloo jr. Blackhawks are in that one as well. I think they have been to Chi-town, as well as the prospects. Should come down to those two teams.

The Jr. Blackhawks may have several kids from the Chicago team that will be playing with their regular MN teams this weekend. I like Velocity in that pool.

Agree with the Legacy pick.

The Blades are in the real tournament that weekend in Toronto called the Prospects.

What are you talking about wayupnorth? That tournament was almost 2 weeks ago and the 1996 Blades did not make the Sunday playoff rounds.

The real tournament in Toronto called prospects? Check your years and dates, I get the age groups mixed up sometimes as well.

The only age group that looks weak is the 99s.

The 95 and 96 Prospects tournament was 2 weeks ago (look at the schedules) What does that have to do with the Independent Classic???

Sorry, I just looked at the rosters the 95/96 were two weeks ago.

This is a 97-99 Prospects in Toronto May 21-23. The 99 division in the Independance cup should be an easy one for the Machine.

Ouch. Tough to be effective with the smack talk when you get nicked on a technicality.

I'll humor you, though, and say, "Yes, you are the only real hockey parent, because you take your kid, the only real hockey player, with the Blades, the only real hockey team, to Toronto, the only real Canadian city, to play in the Prospects, the only real hockey tournament." I'm sure that will be a great experience for most of the kids and most of the parents, as well. However, meanwhile, back in Minnesota, the only real state of hockey, a whole bunch of parents will drive their kids a short distance to play a whole bunch of pretty good hockey that weekend.

my picks velocity for their pool, blades for their pool, ship blades vs. velocity and ill take blades.
other invite side I'll pick NPI to take ship, since its legacy academy team. (unless the roster gets made up of invite legacy) then it will be a good game. Waterloo should do better here than in chitown.

It looks like I hit a big nerve with the "real" word. Sorry if I hurt your feelings.

I believe and it is only my opinion that the Blades with get more out of going outside the box once in awhile.

My feelings aren't hurt. I was simply pointing out what an arrogant statement you'd made, discounting hundreds of kids that will skate in arenas all over the metro.

And rather condescending, as I re-read it.
