Who do the Blades server other than the Blades?
Who do the Blades server other than the Blades?
How do they grow hockey in Minnesota? One could say that they don't
The Blades program sings it own praises because they are a non-profit. We are better because we are a 501 C3 Corp! Isn't what TerryMoore17 is saying? Some how they are better than others because of their tax status?
Many of their supporters on this board belittle everyone that is in the hockey "business" because they make a profit. So what? They grow the game. They offer more programs, clinics, leagues and tournament which grows the game of hockey.
The question is this, aren't the Blades as self serving as a group can possible be? The hockey business groups out there have to serve their customer or they won't be in business. Does any one go to their job and work for free? You profit from the time and work you put in.
Does Ford Motor Co. hand you a balance sheet as to what they spent on each part and show you what the margin is? Greatone99 what business show you it's margins? There are a lot of kids that are not on the Machine that benefit from that rink. The rink was built with profits.
As for the Brick tournament, the Blades could grow and better Minnesota hockey by taking their name off of it. Go as "Team Minnesota" Why not do that? They are just in it for the Kids right? Then what does it matter if the Blades name is on it or not. Aren't they doing this out of the goodness of their hearts?
The Blades have the Super Series. Big deal, one tournament and the profit still all goes back to the Blades. When we play in the Super Series we are lining the Blades Parent pockets with $$$$$. I guess we are going to have to go the the Selects in St. Cloud.
The Blades serve only the Blades.
Yes, I am a Orange Parent and my ice cost about $14 per hour. Not bad for what we get.

Re: Who do the Blades server other than the Blades?
Would BM ever let your kid player for another AAA team in the summer? More specifically, if the Blades asked your son to play with them at the Brick, would BM let him? Did you have to sign a contract saying you would never have an adult beverage while at an out of town tournament?Averageone99 wrote:

Just curious.
And as far as the rest of your rant goes....I think you have it backwards. The point of virtually all the latest "Machine/Blades" threads has been to trash the Blades more than anything else. In fact, I haven't seen a thread started with the intent of trashing MM for quite a while now.

Did BM specially tell you (and others) that your son is not to play on any other teams during the summer? Also, what's BM's opinion on other sports such as soccer and baseball? Are they allowed?Averageone99 wrote:
Why would we want to play on the Blades? My son is very proud of he team and his buddies on the team.

Re: Who do the Blades server other than the Blades?
The rink has yet to turn a profit. The best year they had was two years ago and they broke even. The rink was built with investor money and investor money has kept it afloat. BM just sold half his stake in his hockey camps last year to generate cash to pay bills.Averageone99 wrote:Who do the Blades server other than the Blades?

As far as the Brick team going as "Team Minnesota", it can't under the Brick Charter, it must go as Blades.
"Who do the Blades serve". The players and their families of course, who else. All the money paid to play on the Blades (ie Non-profit), go to growing hockey inside the Blades community. You want to be a part of the Blades, try-out, if not, go ahead and write a check to BM so he can pay off his corvettes, pay the light and electricty bills, in other words subsidize his lifestyle and the rink, but not your kids development by hiring quality coaches and playing in quality tournaments.

Muckandgrind - just want to answer some of your MANY questions you have posted here and many other threads recently:
Bernie has NEVER mandated (or made us sign a contract) that Machine parents can't:
1.) Have a cocktail or drink at tournaments. As a matter of fact I can't recall a Machine tournament that I (and many others) haven't enjoyed more than one adult beverage in the company of other adults away from the kids.
2.) Let their kids play other sports. To be honest, I can't think of ONE kid on our team that doesn't play at LEAST one more organized sport during hockey season (and most kids play two or three which include lacrosse, baseball, soccer, golf and tennis just to name a few).
3.) Let their kids play on another team for a tournament or otherwise. His only advice is that we BE CAREFUL because some of the teams that are recruiting our kids are the same ones that are slamming our kids, our teams and our program's methods right here on this board and everywhere else. NEVER ONCE forbid a kid to play - anytime, anywhere.
I guess I don't understand why you keep posing the same questions on this thread and others OVER and OVER and OVER?!?!?! Maybe this will be the end of your monotonous postings now that I have cleared things up? I doubt it though.
High Off The Glass - Us Machine parents have a life <2000 Blades look to Monopoly to bail them out>. As a matter of fact we have a pretty damn good life and team for that matter (check the records). We're not cheering for the 2000 Blades kids to "crash and burn" at the Brick - just defending our own against all Orange haters out there as any good parent would. As a matter of fact I hope that Blades do great things up in Edmonton - I'm just not sure it will happen with the way the team is shaping up. Besides, now the new word is that the Blades have recruited a couple ND kids and one out of Chicago to make the trip so technically, even if we were rooting for them to crash and burn, we wouldn't be rooting against Minnesota kids completely - just mostly. Is that a direct enough answer for you? If you have any more hard hitting questions go ahead and post them and I'll give you the straight answer you are looking for and then you can go back and figure out who the best players and best team is on your own off line (here's a clue - their home and away jerseys are the same color).
One last parting comment to all those that were touting the credentials of the new 2000 Blades coach over the 2000 Machine coach - all that resume cred doesn't mean squat as far as being an effective leader and teacher of 9 and 10 year olds! Go watch a Blades game and you'll soon see what I mean. ANYONE and I mean ANYONE can coach the two best kids on the team to take off with the puck and try to go end to end EVERY TIME THEY TOUCH THE PUCK. Ask ANYONE that was at the Torspo/Blades game the other day. Torspo outclassed them as far as the team play went by a long shot. Their coach must have a better resume!

Machine Parent - thanks for answering my questions....the reason I kept posting them is because no one would answer. Bernie must be mellowing out in his old age, because in the past he HAS mandated that parents not drink alcohol on the road trips....and he also mandated that kids always prioritize hockey over other summer sports.....At least he did this with the kids from the former 95 and 96 teams, according to parents of those players.
I was just checking to see if he was still up to his old tricks...that's all.
This is where you are wrong....Look at all the threads started up lately about the Machine/Blades/Torspo....how many of them were started by Blades parents trashing MM? How many were started by Machine/Torspo/Monopoly parents trashing the Blades? Virtually EVERY thread, including this one, was created to bash the Blades!!!We're not cheering for the 2000 Blades kids to "crash and burn" at the Brick - just defending our own against all Orange haters out there as any good parent would.

This simply is not true. Bernie has openly said he would not allow anyone on his machine teams to play with the Blades. He specifically said he would kick kids off if they played for the Blades in the brick.
Any suggestion pr "advice" he gives carries a lot of weight down there, because everyone knows what the consequences are!
I can almost guarantee that there are no monopoly parents trashing the blades. The monopoly and blades programs seem to have a very positive relationshipmuckandgrind wrote:Machine parent wrote:Muckandgrind - just want to answer some of your MANY questions you have posted here and many other threads recently:

You're probably right....I was just using the thread claiming the Blades needing the Monopoly to "bail them out" as an example.

Not sure where your getting your info, but you are wrong again. There will be no players from Chicago or ND. There is a kid from East Grand Forks who plays on the Blades. The interesting thing is you coach the one who is hoping the 9 and 10 year olds crash and burn, has offered to pay for a kid from Canada to play with his team in the final tournaments of the summer. I have now reason to believe the people talking about that, this last weekend, would make it up. I believe they know the family that is being "recruited" to play with the machine when they play the Blades/Monopoly.
As far as coaching credentials; In my brief experience with the Blades coach, He seems to really care about the kids and will have them prepared for the Brick. My experience with the Machine coach is all second hand, so I will leave that to those who know him better.

Poor Poor Blades. I would cheer for any team other than the Blades.
I have been very turned off by the John Byers. This guy is a complete jerk. His antics in the stands are unbelievable and his poor son. We were playing at the rink and he was just ripping that poor kid up and down.
If the Blades want to keep friends lose that guy.
What is his roll with the Blades isn't he a manager or something.

Jealousy is simply and clearly the fear that you do not have value. Jealousy scans for evidence to prove the point - that others will be preferred and rewarded more than you. There is only one alternative - self-value. If you cannot love yourself, you will not believe that you are loved. You will always think it's a mistake or luck. Take your eyes off others and turn the scanner within. Find the seeds of your jealousy, clear the old voices and experiences. Put all the energy into building your personal and emotional security. Then you will be the one others envy, and you can remember the pain and reach out to them.hockeydad11 wrote:Did you say the Blades have the right to get slaughtered at the Brick tournament?
Words Machine parents should take to heart!
I have said this before, the Blades are the benchmark for AAA hockey in Minnesota. If you want to play in top tournaments against top competition this has been the club that has consistently done this. Look at the alumni that have worn the Blades jersey over the past 20 years. Look at the players drafted by the NHL, other pro ranks, D1 and D3, very impressive. No other hockey club comes close. I can see why they get bashed from the competition. I agree, they do not always have the best team at every age level but the club has always been consistent. Fact are facts, get over it. It will take many years for any other team to achieve this level of success.

Nope - couldn't claim to be Jungels - just a fan. Fact is, he is too busy developing players and putting LINES together that consistently beat down any team that has gotten in their way and let's the parent's put the sentences together here on the board. Apparently he likes to do his talking by example on the ice.High Off The Glass wrote:Hey Jungels nice manifesto! To be honest, I was sure you couldn't put two sentences together.
When the Blades lovers here finally want to stop skirting around the REAL issue behind all these topics and want to drop all this 2nd grade "my dad can beat up your dad" banter back and forth with the pro Machine crowd and actually put their money with their mouths are, I'm sure Mr. Jungels would be more than happy to oblige and set up a scrimmage. Oh, but I'm sure that won't happen because I've heard that the 2000 Blades manager says they only scrimmage 99 teams. Your beat down is only a phone call away. . .

Somebody here please enlighten me to ANYTHING that the 2000 Machine has to be jealous of from the 2000 Blades. . . ?????????!!!!!??????High Off The Glass wrote:Jealousy is simply and clearly the fear that you do not have value.

SO let me get this straight-
Machine parents are talking smack because their 2000s dominate and hope the 2000 blades get whooped in Edmonton.
Blades guy says they have invited Machine players to Edmonton, but the Machine kids (parents) have rejected the offer. They reject the offer since BM will kick their kid off the team.
The reality is that the Blades have the contract and the Machine doesn't. BM would rather see the Blades send a lesser team, even though Machine players have been invited.
I guess we all know that if you want your kid to play at the Brick, then you must play for the Blades. If the MM organization does not allow you to do that, then you must, as a parent make a decision on what is best.
It is a rather simple decision, but the consequences imposed by MM have made it gut wrenching for some parents.
All is fare in love and war, and this is a perfect example. I am sure if the Brick wanted Machine teams, they would have Machine teams. If you adults cannot come up with a reasonable decision that benefits all kids involved, then shame on you and quit the anonymous smack.
This is actually kind of hilarious to read, but I decided to jump in the mud with the rest of you wackos.
