Is there only one invite quality team in that group?

Re: Easton Cup Invite
Which "group" are you referring to? Depending on what year you are talking about there are multiple "invite" quality teams. Some age levels have more than others.dogeatdog1 wrote:Is there only one invite quality team in that group?

I was advised to "stay away" from the forum for a while but today I heard something that I can't understand. I'm sure there are a few parents/coaches that can offer some excuses for this.
The Machine pulled out of the Easton cup at the 00' level because they didn't want to play the Monopoly. Originally the Machine coach complained that they were in the same pool. Now he decided to pull his team out a week before the tournament. If a team bills itself as one of the top teams in North America, why are they scared to play any other 00' team. Mind you the kids were all looking forward to playing in this tournament but the coach let his own insecurities get in the way of his teams ability to play. In my opinion it is good for development to play top competition.
What makes this worse in my eyes is that they are throwing to the wolves a below average open team into an invite tournament instead of his team. Now that group of kids has to play a team the machine coaches were scared of. Why would they do that and why are they even allowed to do that a week before the tournament starts. I guess the good thing is the petite coach with the visor won't have the opportunity to yell at the opposing 10 year old players. I guess a little fear will keep him from embarrassing his organization again!

So how is so called team (00 Machine) that beat so called other team (00 Monopoly) last year twice by scores of 5 - 0 and 8 - 0 in the very same Easton Cup SCARED to play them this year in the same tourney?EnjoyTheShow wrote:I was advised to "stay away" from the forum for a while but today I heard something that I can't understand. There is no logic to your statement. Sounds like the 00 Monopoly team caught the break from being embarrassed (again. . .twice)!

Interesting though, sounds like they offered to "scrimmage" the machine anywhere from 1 to 5 times over that weekend but the head coach wouldn't do it. This is the same guy that thinks he has a top team in North America. Clearly he is scared of something!
Do you think it is reasonable to throw the snipers in their place? Seems like once again they have no problem using another of their teams to support the one that matters down there.

So Scott, why would you offer to scrimmage another team on the same weekend you will be playing tournament games? Sounds like a lame attempt to be able to say "we offered to scrimmage them 1 - 5 times over the weekend but the head coach wouldn't do it." Ever think that the Machine already had some scrimmages lined up or something else on the schedule?EnjoyTheShow wrote:That is silly! At any rate - one more time for arguments sake - 5 - 0 and 8 - 0 wins and the Machine is running scared? Puff your chest out a little more and keep offering up the challenges but until you legitimize yourself and actually build a team with a track record of performance on the ice as good as the Machine's don't bother calling them. Maybe you should concentrate on beating teams like the Easton and The Edge first.

Brokaw you should really think about pulling your pants up before you start throwing barbs about the machine coach's apparel choice! You're not coaching a MTV Real World hockey team unless some of those kids from Florida are real "hoop-dees"! Actually, maybe you should go back to wearing the suit on the bench - that seemed to bring you good luck last year!EnjoyTheShow wrote:I was advised to "stay away" from the forum for a while but today I heard something that I can't understand. this is almost too funny. Believe me the Machine isn't afraid to play anybody, anyplace, anywhere. The Machine has had a very busy schedule with Canada, Vegas, plus many local tourney's and still the Caribou left. So by not playing in another tourney they would mop up the field like the Easton Cup makes them afraid. Afraid of what? No local team has beat them in their two years of play.
Word on the street is Monopoly was in fact afraid to play the Machine with their 'regular' team and opted to instead take their best players only and fill in the rest with other players from God knows where. Nice faith in your 'regular' team.
Get real, it's 10 yr old hockey and who cares if the Machine decided to have a free weekend instead of adding another trophy for the trophy case. The other teams should be happy since it will be a more balanced tourney with the top dog out.

Wow! Where do I start. I won't even bother to address the fact that I'm not scott again, as even when it was shown I wasn't you continue to not let reality get in the way of your fantasy world.
So if you feel it is OK to throw his name around let's do that. If he is such a low life why did jensen continually ask him to coach the fire when Tell it like it aint (Jungle) bailed on the team??? Why did he text Scott while he was at the brick begging him to get "the red helmet kid" to play for the fire?? Looks like that ship has sailed anyways.
Fact is that the Monopoly would have scrimmaged in addition to playing the tournament. Heck they would play 2 tournament games then scrimmage the machine. They aren't SCARED! They also wouldn't care if they ost as they want to play good competition. If the top dogs
want to play legitimate teams with proven track records, why are the instead playing the 99' Icemen? I'm sure the 99' icemen are a good group of kids, but they just aren't competitive.
The machine were scheduled to play in the Easton cup and got scared. jungles originally called showcase to complain about having to play the monopoly on Saturday. Sounds like the coach is only brave when he is attacking 10 year olds!
As far as the florida joke I guess I just don get it. I'm pretty sure Scott already addressed his wardrobe decision. Your organization is the ones that make boys wear ties and yourself dresses in tshirts. Keith your a little guy can't you borrow one of the kids nice outfits for a game?
Keith, If the machine is so will to play anyone anywhere, why won't they play the monopoly that weekend. You are embarassing yourself yet again! The top dog isn't out! it's a shame that your boys were looking forward to playing in a tournament and your own insecurities are not allowing them to play. Looks like you will be watching the brick kids play again from your couch. No wonder the Brick isn't in your future. I'm sure you'll have a lot to say about the outcome from your living room.
The sad thing is, as a result of your fear the monopoly will absolutely hammer the team you made play instead, and when they get mad they should go to you jingles as you are the guy who caused it.

Yes it is acceptable to back out after the schedules are posted. Yes it is reasonable to put a team in that shouldn't, it happens all the time.EnjoyTheShow wrote:Sorry, to get back on the topic, Is it acceptable to back out of a tournament after the schedules have been posted and is it reasonable to put a team in that should't be?karl(east) wrote:Stay on topic.

We don't know what happened here, but something smells a little fishy. If what is claimed here is true. A highly regarded team from a highly regarded program enters a tournament, pays the entry fee, then backs out after the schedules are posted. Says it will keep the spot, but will enter a questionable invite team into the invite tournament. Machine team tournament schedules are determined in the Winter or early Spring. Doubt they couldn't field a team to play, it was on their schedule from the beginning.
Granted this will happen, but I would guess the Easton people were not very happy. Is it reasonable to do this, I'm not so sure. I would think if at all possible, it's reasonable to play in the tournament that you've entered and paid your money for.
Not taking sides here. No dog in this fight. Maybe someone from Easton or the Machine team could clarify what really happened. Could be a very simple explanation. I doubt if they will, but I'll throw out the challenge anyway. Then we can get back to talking about the tournament itself, and Karl won't put a lock on it.

I'm with you. I am admitidally somewhat biased as I have a kid in the program but not in this tournament. I spike with acouple of machine dads and they were dissapointed because they had planned on the tournament. I think they were the most upset about their kids not being able to play because of something with their coachhockeyover40 wrote:We don't know what happened here, but something smells a little fishy. So with that established you should maybe tell Scott to get his hand out of your a$$ because all you are then is a puppet for his words. EVERYONE knows this - not even worth trying to deny!
So who are you that you know all this inside info about how this all went down? Sounds like you may be a double agent with all your brilliant insight!
All things aside, like I said before - when the Monopoly establishes a record that starts to approach what the Machine has already accomplished over the last two years, well then step into the batter's box. Never said it wasn't talked about hotsauce - it was but SB was never offered the job or "asked" to take the job by Jensen or anyone else. Fact is that if SB "took" the job there would have been about 4 or 5 kids at the tryout.hotsauce wrote: I know for a fact that he did recieve many texts about coaching the fire because I knew those asking him. 00 Monopoly record vs 00 Machine = 0 - 2, 0 goals for, 13 against. Somehow Machine still afraid to play Monopoly. THAT is the OUTRAGEOUS part!
