Catching up on the District 6 vs. Bernie discussion

GreatOne - I was breaking down your 170 hrs of Blades ice time and its not really adding up. You can really only count 2 weeks for March because association hockey goes through mid March. You have April - June and August and I come up with about 19 weeks. 170 hrs divided by 19 weeks is almost 9 hrs per week. 7 days in a week and I get almost 1.3 hrs / day and you add in tournaments and your Blades friend is drinking heavily to cope with the hockey schedule. I'm having a little trouble with this one???

I know its late but this comment caught my eye and it doesn't add up. This is 10 min. of my life I will never get back!

Thanks for noticing HR. Maybe the number includes travel time for all of the out of town and out of state players. But then again those players would probably only make games and some practices. Would like to see the breakdown for a younger Squirt or PW team as well as an older team.

Here's the communication I received on the breakdown of the 170 hrs.

March - June: 16 weeks (His Blades team also skates several days of month in Jan and Feb which makes up for the first two weeks of March).

Last two weeks of July: 2 weeks=18 weeks.

August: 4 weeks= 22 weeks

Sept: 5 practices at 1.5 hrs.=7.5 hrs.

Total: 170 hrs./22 weeks= 7.7 hrs. a week at approx. 5 days a week=1.5 hr practices. (plus an additional 7.5 hrs. in Sept.)

Hey, it's not like I asked you to do the math, so it sounds like you might have had 10 min. to spare.

5 days/week plus scrimmages and tournaments (some far from home) is a lot of hockey.

GO99 Holy cow that seems like a lot of ice, but after I though about it, I'm wondering this: Take a Machine kid who's on the practice ice for about 150 hrs every summer and then you figure most of those kids probably skate in BM summer speed academy for I believe 4 days a week at 1.5-2 hrs. a pop ( I'm too lazy to look it up). So do the math and they are on the ice a lot...WOW. You wonder why so many kids have bad backs and knees at a such young age, but as BM says "when you're not on the ice someone else IS and he's getting better".

Yeah .. And they're not alone..
When you look at games, scrimmages, tournaments, and practices.
150 hours per summer is quite common for more than a few AAA teams.
Add to that the fact that many kids play on more than one team..
Your normal may not apply here.

I think that the info provided is wrong. I went to the Blades 98 site which is public. I quickly counted about 75 days with something going. If we assume mostly 1.5 or 2 hours each time, with a few double-headers thrown in, it comes to about 125 hours on the ice.

So you went to the site, counted up the days, drew a assumption of 125 and it was within 83% of number 150? One seperate note why am i even discussing someones team hours??????? Oh my goodness I am ready for the season to start.

Old Goalie - Based on the resume that you posted on BM he should be sharpening skates at Hockey Giant and driving a taxi. Seems to be doing pretty darn good for such a lousy resume! It really gets old when you sit and try to convince everyone that BM sux. We all know you hate him but at least give him a little credit.

Does Bernster do a good job sharpening skates or were you being sarcastic? I had a son sharpen skates at hockey giant, he now has his own gig.

Council Member - Now I know why I don't get my skates sharpened at Hockey Giant!! I had a kid sharpen my skates there and they were worse then when I brought them there. Not saying I was your kid that sharpened them but on the other hand it could have been. Probably a good thing that he moved on to his own gig!
