First, there is not 98' Fire team this year. So, if you are going to expect us to believe that a group of first year peewee's, all 99' birth years is better than all but one team in the entire state of Minnesota than you are delusional.

The majority of A teams associations wide across the state are composed of second year players within that particular level. Players that will bigger, stronger and faster than that of their Fire opponents.

I would be willing to bet that at the end of the year, if and only if, that 99' team does play some of the top end teams in the state they will have a loosing record.

Second, best teams in the state. Wisconsin Fire, not in Minnesota.

If you did this to be funny, why bother, Bernie is not going to give your kid anymore playing time because you hit the blogs to pimp his team.

Both these W's were Wayzata's tryout team. The team is now official though. Edina was also a tryout team, not sure when they finalize team. Elk River was the official team. However, good W's.

Edina probably finalized last night. Final tryout scrimmages for A and Bs last night.

Kevin Kurtt, editor of Let's Play Hockey, here. I just wanted to offer those that are interested/qualifed an opportunity to be a ranker for Minnesota youth hockey within the pages of LPH. Are you a youth hockey coach, assistant coach, team manager or devout follower of youth hockey around the state who can lend a hand?

Here are the details of the "job." Each Monday evening, I would send you a compilation of all the youth hockey scores that I receive from over the weekend. Using that info, as well as your expertise at your chosen level of youth hockey, you would email me your rankings by noon on Wednesday.

Our rankers are anonymous. If you want to become a ranker, send a note to editor@letsplayhockey.com.

Will be interesting to see how some of the early tournaments play out. The EP '1st test of the best' usually has some good squads.

They're going to have to adjust from the one-player system they had last year.

WBL was a tryout scrimmage, might have something to do with it. Agreed though that the score was lopsided.

Here's a little more of an accurate account of the scrimmage:
It was a tryout scrimmage as explained above. Blaine had their final team and WBL was still skating 20 skaters and four goalies. The score was not 11-3, it ended up about 6-2 Blaine...maybe 7-2. No scores were posted on the scoreboard so I could see how people started running up the scores in their own minds. Actually WBL was winning after the 1st period 2-1. Then the returners sat for a bit so the coaches could get a look at the group trying to make the team. They also ran out the 2 goalies midway through that ended up getting cut. They had a very rough night.

WBL won't be world beaters, certainly...but they will be a fast team although a little on the small side.

The next morning WBL scrimmaged Edina and their 20 man tryout team for 2 hours. Both teams skated four full lines for the first hour. At the end of the first hour it was 1-0 Edina. Very competitive, Edina was extremely physicial. About as physical as I have seen a pee wee team in a while. Then as they did the night before, WBL sat their returners and ran out the same two cut goalies in the second hour. Edina soon went into mop-up mode.

Edina and Wayzata, the rest will be chasing. Here is a list to keep a eye on.

Elk River
Burnsville
Tonka
Farmington
Rosemount
Woodbury
Blaine

I don't know any of the northern teams, but rest assured they will have a few that will be in the top 10.
