Alex Harvey Lakeville south as good as kloos and osterberg and ends up playing elite 2. Leads league in goals and they promote guenzel a tenth grader who had only had 3 assists. I think a 11th grader, who played a whole year at varsity level should get the spot before a tenth grader who didn't even have a goal in elite 2 league. I think guenzel is a great player and he was used only for comparison to Harvey for being called up. So yeah i would have to scratch my head to why Harvey would be elite 2 after tryouts and then not get called up and a few eagan kids and guenzel do over him makes me wonder if something is going on.HappyHockeyFan wrote:What Politics?? Give one example that you can prove, not just hearsay...just because some player you think should be playing elite and isnt doesnt mean there are politics involved. I believe those that founded and continue to run the league are doing so with every intention of benefiting any and all kids that rightfully earn a spot on a team and for the best interest of the state of miinnesota and its highschool hockey players.watchdog wrote:with all the politics that has slitherd into this elite league. i wonder if its keeping kids in minnesota hockey or perhaps motivating them to leave just food for thought.

You sir are 100% correct. Great, great league. However nepotism will kill the overall development in this state. To answer your question the coaches should care and my hunch is they do care a whole lot just listen to Mike Randolphs interview for a good source. That said there is not a whole lot the coaches can do in regards to this league. Free enterprise is the best option and what makes the US GREATRookie19 wrote:This League is all picked by one guy Russ0. How would the high the school coaches allow this? or do they just not care.
Its more about who you know, than who are the best players.

I don't blame him. They had him on MN Red which was comprised of half MN kids, and the rest split between ND and WI. Why would he want to play on that team when clearly the better of the two was the all MN white team? I would have gone to sioux falls too.observer wrote:Interesting that Kyle Rau played two games with Sioux Falls last weekend instead of the Bauer NIT.

Clearly? Minnesota Red didn't have a problem with either of their other two opponents and kept the game with White pretty close. Seeing as how Rau didn't appear on ANY roster when they were initially released and was listed only as an alternate later on, I'm guessing he informed the Elite League in advance that he was skipping the NIT... regardless of team assignment. It could be he was setting himself up to join Sioux Falls after the season ends. He certainly had a nice weekend for the Stampede.StillAnEagle wrote:I don't blame him. Rau was on the original roster, was later switched to an alternate (I'm looking at both right now). Freschi was orginally listed as an alternate on the white team and took Rau place on the red team. The Exiled One wrote:Seeing as how Rau didn't appear on ANY roster when they were initially released and was listed only as an alternate later on, I'm guessing he informed the Elite League in advance that he was skipping the NIT... regardless of team assignment. A weekend or two really does not "set him self up" for post high school play, as that option is there regardless. A better explanation may be is that he is "testing the waters" and perhaps considering not playing high school hockey his senior season?

Oops, saw that wrong, but the rest still holds. I don't think he leaves HS. EP has a great shot at the state title and Rau has a great shot at Mr. Hockey. There's no benefit for him joining the USHL unless Lucia made it a prerequisite before joining the Gophers.High Flyer wrote:Rau was on the original roster, was later switched to an alternate (I'm looking at both right now). I can think of several benifits for him to now join the USHL and I anticapate a future announcementThe Exiled One wrote:Oops, saw that wrong, but the rest still holds. I don't think he leaves HS. Yes clearly. I was at the Red/White game and clearly white was the better of the 2 teams. I came into the game with an unbiased opinion. It was clear about 5 minutes into the game that white was better. The Exiled One wrote:Clearly? Wow...If it is true that he stays his senior year, then I have one question? The Exiled One wrote:http://rise.espn.go.com/all-sports/arti ... r-mag.aspxHigh Flyer wrote:I can think of several benifits for him to now join the USHL and I anticapate a future announcementThe Exiled One wrote: Oops, saw that wrong, but the rest still holds. Are his parents from another planet? Because...How can they let a kid make this decision?
The majority of parents (not all - but the majority, with a child with this much talent) are suggesting (telling

PLAY WITH YOUR BUDDIES...ARE THEY NUTS?

(Age 5 - Dream is to win a State Title)
(Age 17 - Dream is to win a State Title)
(Age 19 - Dream was to win State Title)
(Age 40 - Dream is to have one of your children win state title)
(Age 70 - Dream is to have one of your grandchildren win state title)
Hmmmm....Sounds Logical

For those of you who say....you are living through your kid by having him win a state title....Wrong!!! This is wanting to see your child and grandchild fulfill their dreams. Their hockey dreams are not different that what yours were at their age. - ONLY MY OPINION.

Sorry, but I'm a lttle confused by that one. Just by virtue of being the parent hardly qaulifies someone to determine whats "best" for any given player where hockey is concerned. Ask ten different experts you might get 10 differendt answers. This board has been swamped by this very topic for years. Did Jake Gardiner need to leave? Seems he's on the right track. Should Aaron Ness have left? Probably not. If Kyle truly wants to finish high school with his friends how can anyone question his decision? I've got a couple teenage boys and suggesting/telling them what to do is much easier said than done. I find it hard to believe that his hockey career could be derailed by a window of just about 5 months of hockey. I for one hope he stays even if he kicks are tails, it will be the last time I can watch him for just six bucks!

My comment was sarcasm....I agree with him staying in school and playing with his buddies. I'm sure it was a dream of his at 5 yrs old (as it is today) to win a state championship. Herb Brooks fondest memory was what Kyle Rau wants to accomplish. Good for him. I applaud his parents.
Kyle did accomplish it once. He wants to do it again as a senior leader. Good for him!
Hold your applause.CrashDaNET wrote:KeepYourHeadUp
