PeeWee A's in District 12

Anybody have any input on the teams in District 12 peewee A division?

The teams are Grand Rapids, Virginia, Mesabi East, Eveleth-Gilbert, Greenway,Hibbing, and international falls.

Grand Rapids may be the only one with more than 1 PeeWee team which is often a good measure. If there are only 15 PeeWee aged kids in town playing hockey it's tough to compete outside the District.

The "B" teams in D12 are Ely, Eveleth, Grand Rapids (2), Greenway, Hibbing, Int'l Falls, and Virginia. So, six of eight towns have at least two teams. Mesabi East moved up to the "A" level after a good showing last year. Same number of PW teams as last year.

It is not really fair but Grand Rapids has somehow managed to bring in the top 3 peewees from Greenway. Sounds like parents had enough of what we saw there last yr and decided to move on. Grand Rapids is very deep and will be fun to watch develop. Greenway has a couple average peewee players left, but not enough to really compete. There best have left.

Here is how I see it stacking up.

Grand Rapids - (not close, they will be the best team in n mn along with Cloquet

Hibbing - pretty deep team - do they have a goalie?

Huge Drop off from there

I Falls- some ok talent - probably the best of the bottom
Virginia - not what they where
Greenway - lost way to much - counting on b players to compete
Mesabi East - did ok at peewee b but will struggle at the a level
Eveleth - kind of in the same boat as Greenway

The bottom 5 are in a day in day out battle

I hope things improve for us here in Eveleth. HS is a far cry from peewees and we have time to develop our kids and push them to become the best they can be. Puberty is coming and that will change alot
