best way to watch a hockey game

Post by grandmeadowhockeyfan »

There was a really good article in the LPH magazine a couple weeks ago. It stated that he watched hockey by watching just one player from first whistle to last whistle. The author stated that you pick the best player on the ice and watch him at all times, with and without the puck, etc. That made me consider how i watch games. Maybe there is a best way in order to get the most from a hockey game. I would love to hear your thoughts on how you watch a game. Especially from the great hockey minds out there.

Well, if you're a scout then yes, you follow the kid you're scouting. There were some kids I just couldn't keep my eyes off of like Paul Martin, Blake Wheeler, Matt Niskanen, Aaron Ness, Brian Lee, Ben Hanowski, T.J. Oshie and even Peter Mueller in his short lived MSHSL career. Thankfully we have two eyes and peripheral vision, so we can see most of the action at all times. And most of the top players only play for 20-25 minutes, so we get to see the grinders and unheralded players battle as well.
