Hill Murray
I just saw Hill Murray's schedule for the 2010-2011 season. Their first six games have to be the toughest in the State:
Nov 12 Minnetonka (away)
Nov 20 Edina (away)
Nov 27 Stillwater (home)
Nov 30 Eden Prairie (away)
Dec 3 Warroad (home)
Dec 4 Roseau (home)
Then they start their Conference schedule which is not something to write home about but South St Paul should have a decent club this year.

HM
I am trying to remember but I don't think Hill Murray has lost a conference game in 2 years. If they have it might have been just once.
I don't see this trend changing in 2010-2011. Should be another strong season for the Pioneers. It will all come down to how they do in sections.

Maybe but you can't look past a good goaltender and the Hannah Brandt, Muss Brandt and Margo Lund. I could see 0-2 start against tough Tonka and Edina but on any give day you never know.capitalist wrote:I'll predict HM goes 2-4 in their first 6 games.
On Dec. 5 I'll man-up and re-post this.
Nov 12 Minnetonka (away) - Mtka
Nov 20 Edina (away) - Edina
Nov 27 Stillwater (home) - HM
Nov 30 Eden Prairie (away) - HM
Dec 3 Warroad (home) - WRD
Dec 4 Roseau (home) - HM
Outside of Muss Brandt, Margo Lund and two goaltenders their impact players are all young so hard to predict. One advantage they have is practice time between early games. They appear to have a very young D corp

Even if they struggle at the beginning, the experience will help them at section time. Keep in mind that they play in a weak conference and will be able to build lots of confidence and fix mistakes.
This group should be ready to make a run to St. Paul by the end of the season.

.....H Brandt + M Brandt + TBD - will be the bona fide scoring line.capitalist wrote:I don't see replacements for Pendleton and Doyle here.
Who's on the 'bona fide scoring line'?
Consdier Hannah Brandt only a junior is a future UM Gopher, was on the U18 US Team and was just invited to the U22 US Camp - since 8th grade she has made her mark in MN HS hockey at Hill - expect this to be her best season yet as her game is at a new level after another summer of hard work and training. Any young girl who wants to learn to create and score should study Hannah Brandt who is one of a kind.
D to replace Pendleton - I like Jenny McGill (her partner last year) and Mikayla Curtis (her partner 2 years ago - as tall or taller with long reach) they are both impact D that could be better than Pendleton at D before they graduate.
F to replace Doyle - Melissa Doyle was a great Pioneer and at 5 foot always played like a 6 ft giant! Two that I think may replace her and play a similar all out hustle game #12 Brittney Cusick F 10 - extremely fast and #7 Sarah Bobrowski F 9
Good luck
I think that the bona fide line they need is Brandt, Brandt, Lund. They played very well together on the power play. Together they would provide speed, stickhandling, and scoring, they would be hard to stopjoehockey wrote:.....H Brandt + M Brandt + TBD - will be the bona fide scoring line.capitalist wrote:I don't see replacements for Pendleton and Doyle here.

I caught the HM-GRG game yesterday. The 2010-11 squad looked good some observations.
Hannah Brandt is a playing at a National Level her patience & creativity to buy time and create space is amazingly better than a year ago - especially since she seems to now draw 2-3 defenders when she has the puck. I hope she goes out and plays her game despite being above her Team and Competition on about every shift - my observation and not meant as crtical to anyone player. Heard a story about an oppossing Team heckling her and the coach. Some day hopefully the parent heckler understands their daughter played against a truly great player. If you have a young daughter or a HS daughter playing forward go see Hannah Brandt play and then go to the outdoor pond to work on what she did - don't critize - immulate. She is a great kid off the rink and in the class room too.
Margo Lund has made a huge step up very impressed with her power game and scoring touch she gives Hill two tough lines.
Defense - McGill, Curtiss are playing as two strong juniors. Fabian is a nice addition to D and gives Hill 3 Jr D who will only get stronger. I was impressed with the three younger D who are new to Varsity 10th grader Dwyer, 9th grader Brittney Anderson and 8th grader Houge.
Goal - I have always been a huge Allie McKeever fan but yesterday had a chance to see Erin McGuire in goal she was great. HM has to have the two best goalies on one roster in the State of MN it is to bad they are both SR. (Ok maybe the Allen - Boss combo in Roseville is comparable and are not Seniors)
Sounds like HM will be with out Brandt for the Edina Holiday Tournament because she will be in Europe with the U18 USA Team but hopefully the rest of the Team is 100% and injury free. Based on what I saw HM could be a tough Team to beat come season end.
