Class A preseason rankings

Post by Hockeywatcher123 »

Class A is very down this year. These rankings are my guess for now, as it is wide open this year. STA however is the clear cut #1.

1. STA
2. Totino- Grace
3. Duluth Marshall
4. Blake
5. Rochester Lourdes
6. Virgina/MIB
7. Duluth Denfeld/Central
8. Breck
9. Hermantown
10. Spring Lake Park
11. Mahtomedi
12. Warroad
13. Rogers
14 Thief River Falls
15. Orono

Watch list: St. Cloud Cathedral, Sartell- St. stephen, Hibbing

i would definitely put hibbing at 2. They are so good. they would've won state the last two years if virginia didn't get lucky twice

I hope you didn't bet any money on that order, you're gunna be way off. First with Virginia, they don't have a goalie this year and the team is overrated to begin with. I place them about 20.
Second, Denfeld won't be good either, rumor has it they lost their goalie, and he was the life of that team last year. Same with Hermantown, they lost alot of players but I think once again a trip to St. Paul is going to be handed to them on a golden platter...

i probably would have them in the top 10, i said it last year that they will have a good team this year and so far in scrimmages they have shown it, all the defense are returning, tromp is returning in nets and has been there for the last two years. so tell me chubbs, howd your virginia look in the jamboree?

As far as hibbing being #2 seed, I just dont see that. As for now i will say at least top 20. If they start beating some quality teams, the top 10 should happen quickly. As for a few others blake is not a top ten team at this point. And roch lourdes and duluth marshal seem to be highly over rated at the beginning of the season. Lastly as for virginia at a 2 spot, that seems a bit too high this early.

not a virginia guy, but have been reading for a few years and have laughed at hibbing and virginia's back and forth banter. i just checked who the teams played in the jamboree and falls sounds like a team compapable to a greenway or ely and from what i've heard rapids will be a top 20 AA team. I want to see a good season but you hibbing guys really need to realize that when you've lost back to back section finals to a team, don't ralk crap until you prove you can play with them

Well maybe you should stop reading and go to a game between Hibbing and Virginia and see what a real hockey game is like.

Hibbing lost 1-0 to Rapids in there scrimmage and I heard it was pretty even, I think both teams will have good seasons.

hibbing people shouldnt talk bad about virginia because they split in the regular season and lost in postseason the last two years! but beat them the previose few years in the semis and falls havent made it out of the semis in alot of years so they shouldnt even be talking bad about other teams in the section

i've seen plenty of hibbing virginia games and i know who's been better lately which is why i was just suggesting that you hibbing guys think before saying stupid stuff about virginia. The same goes for virginia, their fans shouldn't be bragging until they prove they have the right to brag

Grand Rapids has nothing to do with this forum. I suggest you take a look at one for AA.

Central / Denfeld still have there goalie from last year. The back up transfered to Duluth Marshall. They should Give Marshall . Virginia and Hibbing a run come playoffs.

You're giving up on Warroad?

Albert will be tested this year.

my predictions for single a this season:

blake will over take breck in 2a

warroad seemingly produces hockey players and will still contend for 8a but I expect EGF or TRF to be favorites in 8a

this season's single a will be extremely dominated by the private schools, STA, Lourdes, Duluth Marshall, etc

Duluth Denfeld will be a team to watch early in the season

Mahtomedi will sorely miss Ben Marshall and will struggle early this season

STA will hold the top spot all season

Hibbing and Virginia coaches also show alot of class to each other. EXCEPT Hibbing coaches don't let the kids beat up the opponet in the playoffs 22-0!!! How would you like getting beat 22-0 in your last game as a senior? I sense your still a little upset about losing 2 years straight in the semis. It will more than likely be Hibbing and Virginia in the finals again this year.

Breck and number 10 may be a bit harsh. They are the 2 time State Champs and while they may have lost a lot, they do have some good young talent. And while I hate to say this, how do you leave Blake out of the top 15? Both of these teams would likely have their way with anyone on this list ranked 3-9.

Hibbing and Virginia both started the season off with losses.
Hibbing 6-1 to Little Falls
Virginia 3-0 to Roseville

Give it up already. That was a year ago and you go ranting and raving about it til your blue in the face. After already taking a 5-1 loss in your first game, saying hibbing is likely in the finals at this point is very premature.
