ha ha good one but if you really thought that these two teams' rosters were filled with "All Stars" you would have to "bet the house" (or maybe your parents' house) that one of them will (for sure) win the Class 2A State Championship! The other (smart) thought is that teams like Wayzata, Edina, Apple Valley, Eden Prairie, etc have a few "All Stars" of their own and may manage to put up a fight against these two All Star laden teams.

Back to the game, I'll go with Hill Murray 4-2 because in addition to a couple of All Stars they appear to have the better depth.

Good one Master Recruiter! Have to go with Benilde. I think the Burnsville game showed Hill's weaknesses. They were overrated last year and I think it will be even more obvious this year. Their "stars" are not as good as they think although I wouldn't underestimate Hill's defense.

HM - BSM

Post by stpaul »

I'm not quite sure how HM was overrated last year. They were ranked about 6th at the end of the regular season. They were seeded 4th for the State Tournament and they finished 3rd. They were actually underrated.

Yes, that Master Recruiter is very witty. Metro all-stars - yah, that's a new one. He apparently plans to spend the winter taking shots at private schools on this board. I wonder who he was last year. He might enjoy high school hockey more if he followed his favorite school, went to games and rooted for kids playing hockey.

As for me I'm looking forward to this game. HM & BSM have been evenly matched for several years and expect another very close one. 3 of the last 4 meetings have gone to OT and the other was a 1 goal game. HM is 2-1-1 in those games. I will make my way through a snow storm to the other side of the metro to see this one Saturday afternoon. Also already looking forward to HM - STA next Saturday night and HM - WBL 3 weeks from tonight.

Goaltending and defense definitely favor Hill-Murray. Shaughnessy won't have another soft game like he did against Burnsville anytime soon. Benilde does have more fire power up front with Besse, Horn, and Steinhauser(sp?), but defense is going to win this one.

Hill-Murray -3

Benilde-1

I wonder if lil Timmy is dreaming of Casto and JJ in front of him???? Hill doesn't have that swagger they had in recent years. Maybe Lectner will find some kids in the parking lot or at a party running out the back door to spark things up for the team and just show everyone how tough it is to play for Hill with those "higher" standards.

I wonder if the Ponies are dreaming of getting to the State Tournament for the first time. The Ponies don't seem to be talking as much as last year, maybe they lost their swagger after all their success. Maybe Housely is writing his next speach to use during the hand shakes with Hill players.

Yeah I am sure they are dreaming of it. PPG go patrol the parking lot or maybe start keeping watch for the popo for the boys at those house parties. You always seem to have enough problems to worry about. Better get ready for that next big segment in the Star Tribune, what will it be on now? How this group of Hill players are letting down the Alumni with a couple of losses this early in the season?
