Agreed, but I also don't understand how one team can beat another by that score when the programs aren't that far apart in stature. Kids must have quit at some point.old goalie85 wrote:I stll don't understand running up the score. You should be proud.![]()

17-1 sounds like a game with a ton of kids in their first year of organized hockey.
Be kind. Rewind.

kids quit at about the 11-1 mark in the second period ... this is the only game Mr. Jungles ran up into the double digits. This was a highly scouted game by many other squirt A coaches and AAA coaches.O-townClown wrote:Agreed, but I also don't understand how one team can beat another by that score when the programs aren't that far apart in stature. Hell, if you could dismantle a rival that you play 3-4 more times this year you'd do it too!!!
Word on the street is that Fargo already engraved the trophy for the Fargo Tourney.

2) am I goofy? Perhaps, but my doctor has said I am doing better.

I'm a little goofy too. I have five that play. Just can't picture scouting below the Bantam level because you don't know " who will show up". My oldest is a Jr. and kids on his team [Forest Lake high Bernies school] take a night off here and there. that's why I think you must be some kind of a Nut Job to scout squirts.

Why would AAA coaches be scouting players from Edina? Most kids On the team already play for Machine, Blades, etc. Is Jungles showcasing the kids so other AAA teams can recruit them to play on their teams. That's why he didn't call off the dogs. Get serious!!!MnMade-4-Life wrote:kids quit at about the 11-1 mark in the second period ... this is the only game Mr. Jungles ran up into the double digits. The only way you would, as you call it, dismantle a team 17-1, is if your main purpose was WIN, WIN, WIN. And WIN at all costs. Most would agree the squirt level is about development. How about helping these kids develop sportsmanship, character, and empathy? It's situations like this that continue to give Edina a bad name
I am sure the Edina boys/board/etc. understood, prior to tryouts even, what type of "group" they had at this level with respect to talent/depth/etc.. What a shame they don't have 2 teams, which would have made more sense to me in the big picture for the youth and eventual high school program success. I don't see the reasoning in one team, and say enormouos error on their part, and hope they are all happy with what they accomplished yesterday. They have uglied their name with likely every other party out there that is in the know of this scenario.
Funny how when Blaine beat Princeton 13-1 no one sarted posts on how disrespectful there coaches were or numerous other slaughterfests.... Sometimes you guys need to take a real look in the mirror. Now I'm not saying Edina shoulda beat them that bad but why is it always about bashing the Cake eaters..... I can see one post or something but Christ you guys are just as bad at making a crappy name for yourselves

Everything I said goes for the Blaine game also. Don't know what these coaches are thinking. When I look in the mirror, I can feel good about myself, knowing I'd never do that to a group of 10-11 yr olds.Survey wrote:Funny how when Blaine beat Princeton 13-1 no one sarted posts on how disrespectful there coaches were or numerous other slaughterfests.... Somewhat apple to oranges with my first point - Princeton is no where near the program EP typically is so unlikely Blaine would need two A teams. 13-1 is a bit much too. The only tollerance for scores like these is when a stupid tournament rule dicates it, however it seems most are now realizing that goals against should be utilized instead of goals scored or differential.

After coaching for years and years you would think by now I would have learned to be better about keeping my mouth shut rather than letting my frustrations get the best of me....but I guess I still have some work to do on that front.
I would like to apologize to Keith Jungles and the Edina kids, parents, and association for my post yesterday regarding the Edina Squirt A team and specifically Keith Jungles. We all have our different opinions about how things should and shouldn't be done in youth hockey, but what is NEVER ok is to turn those opinions into personal attacks. My motivation in coaching and as a parent is to make sure that the kids on ALL sides get the most out of their experiences and that their interests come first. Whether I agree with the approach that people take to get there or not is only relevant as relates to my own child. And it certainly is not ok to personally hurt someone if I have a difference of opinion.
As relates to Keith inparticular, I can say that he was very good to my son and was very open and honest with us throughout our process skating with the Machine a few summers ago. So again, regardless of my hockey opinions I should have kept that in mind when personalizing a post the way I did yesterday.
A good lesson for a crusty old hockey guy....we can never stop learning!!! I hope everybody posting on this board going forward can learn from my mistake.

Well if it means anything, you did a particularly nice job of shredding him in your post yesterday. First class shredding all the way. I was impressed.CoachS wrote:After coaching for years and years you would think by now I would have learned to be better about keeping my mouth shut rather than letting my frustrations get the best of me....but I guess I still have some work to do on that front.

The only exception would be responding to HD41-HD41, you're an idiot. The guy makes a public apology on here, something that rarely happens and you bash him. You're just such an idiot sometimes.
