Eden Prairie vs. Hill-Murray

Post by The Greatness »

Jan. 6th, 8:00 at Aldrich

Who will come out on top and what will the score be?

EP has recovered from their little let down and HM has now moved on from those first losses.

HM - EP

Post by stpaul »

Another big test for the Pioneers. 3 games against the West Metro powers - Edina, Minnetonka and Eden Prairie - all in 8 days. This is shaping up to be a great HS hockey season. There does not seem to be a dominant team among the top 7-8. These are 2 of those 7 or 8 teams that have a legitimate chance to be state champions. Unfortunately for EP 3 of the others are in their section. HM will have to get solid defensive and goaltending efforts to stop EP's big guns.

Should be a fun game. I like Hill @ home. 6 to 5.

1 vs. 4

This should be a well fought game coming up on the 6th. Eden Prairie and Hill-Murray both won their holiday tournaments; this provides great momentum coming into Thursday. Both teams are among the elite in MN, both have been tested, and have proven themselves. EP leads in offense but IMO HM has a better defensive core.

EP wins with home advantage, even though it's at Aldrich.

7-4

Well if EP can play Edina and their refs even for 3 peroids in Braemar they can win in Aldrich. 4-3 Eagles.
EP two out of three.

It seems like the Hill bashers like EP more than I do! Anyways I'm just about as big an EP guy as you're gonna get and even I don't see an EP blowout here. Hill is tough and it should be a well played game.
EP two out of three.

Here is my prediction.....

This game will be a preview to the State Tournament Final.

The Metro East All Stars against an EP team that hasn't lost many championship games while growing up playing for the EP Youth Association.

EP wins this one but HM will give them a good game. EP has the stronger offense and goalie while HM dominates on defense with exception of EP's Molenaar. Should be fun to watch.

I think Shaughnessy is better than Ford, but thats just my opinion. I agree with everything else in this statement.

I have to go with the underdog on this - EP.
Should be a great game - when you play against a AAA format team like HILL it is hard not to pull for the community based underdog.
To bad Minnesota Hockey and the High School league don't let the other
AAA club play in the league. (SSM)

EP needs to come out and play physical against the Hill Underclassman.
For that matter their whole first line is vulnerable in a physical game.
#9 & #11 are small and their little winger also backs down agains physical pressure.
Brewski (sp?) will be Hills best player in this game -

Why is the ice always gone!

Really? You're calling EP the underdog? Not only are they almost a 2-1 favorite in this thread poll, but EP is ranked higher by Lets Play Hockey and is ranked first by both the Hockey Hub and Karl.

It's obvious in your post you're not a private school fan, but calling EP an underdog in this matchup is just flat out wrong.

Edit: And Hill-Murray is not a AAA format club. They are a high school, just like any other. Shattuck is very different; the two aren't comparable.

HM - EP

Jack Sparrow: "community based underdog"

The "community" you refer to has 62,000 residents and the high school has 3,189 students. They have more kids in each class than Hill-Murray has in the entire school. We're not exactly talking about Roseau here are we Jack? The "underdog" you refer to is currently ranked #1 and has the best player in the state - Kyle Rau.

Jack Sparrow: "#9 & #11 are small"

#9 Kevin Becker is 5'10" & 175 and #11 Ben Bahe is 5'10" & 185.
EP's Kyle Rau is 5'8" & 150 and he has managed to get around those giant defenders well enough to score 15 goals in 10 games.

I have to agree with PuckU126 about Ol' Jack's credibility problem.

Thanks for the Stats St. Paul - you always throw them out when getting defensive about your Pioneers.
You and your Hill cronies make me laugh! (HockeyFan893, Pride Guy...)
Hey isn't there a festival for you pride guys down at Loring Park every year?
You take yourselves way to seriously.
Anybody who puts any merit in anything posted on this forum needs a reality check! I do find it amusing though.
Take a look at your Hill roster and add up the pupulations of all the cities where your defectors come from. You might as well just add the state of Wisconsin for good measure. I think one of your better young D comes from Hudson.?
now compare to the population of EP. Statisticly, I would say EP is the underdog.
Do I think Hill will win ...NO!!
Obviousley I am being a little sarcastic when I call EP an underdog!!

As far as the height and weight of your forwards ..BFD. You are only as big as you play. -- You are right about Rau being only about 5'8". He is a giant compared to your top forwards though.

I guess I struc a nerve on the AAA thing!

"Anybody who puts any merit in anything posted on this forum needs a reality check!"

Yes, how dare people sound credible. Why bother with facts and logic-based reasoning when you can be completely off base?

The others above me are right. Every post you make sounds less and less credible and more like another private-school hater.

How about you focus on the game, team vs team, rather than taking shots at the programs and schools. That horse is already dead, we know all those arguments.
