Reminder that if you wish to participate in this week's contest to have your picks in by 6:00pm this evening. So far we have 13 fearless prognosticators, and we welcome any and all forum readers (and KRACH?) who might like to join in.

A few interesting tidbits:

In terms of voter margins, the closest games this week appear to be Lakeville North vs. Rosemount and Centennial vs. Anoka (both are being rated basically tossups so far with 6-7 and 7-6 margins respectively).

Edina is a close favorite (8-5 margin) over Minnetonka even though the Skippers are rated narrowly higher by both LPH and KRACH.

All the other games this week have a strong favorite over a supposedly weaker opponent, but from what we've seen happen in many such games this year I can almost guarantee there will be some upsets.

All the other games this week have a strong favorite over a supposedly weaker opponent, but from what we've seen happen in many such games this year I can almost guarantee there will be some upsets.

I was expecting an upset or two, but did Crookston really beat Warroad 5-0? At least that is what Minnesota Sports Online is showing tonight. No disrespect to Crookston, but shutting out Warroad 5-0 (if accurate) is HUGE! None of our 16 "experts" picked Crookston to win, much less by 5-0. Here are all of tonight's scores, at least as initially reported:

Minnetonka 2, Edina 2 (nobody picked them to tie, therefore zero points for all)
Lakeville South 4, Lakeville North 1 (correct scores and 2 points for TeamFirst, hockeyheaven and Hansonbrother)
BSM 3, Irondale 2 (woogieboogiewoogie gets 2, everyone else 1)
Warroad 0, Crookston 5 (see above - 0 points for everybody)
Hastings 4, Stillwater 4 (another tie, which nobody predicted - 0 points all around)
Thief River Falls 0, Roseau 1 (13 of 16 get a point; nobody gets 2)

Assuming all of these scores are correct we have a four-way tie for first, all with 4 points:

I researched this a little more this morning and yes, Warroad did win 5-0. Story of the game can be found here: http://kroxam.com/Sports%20Page.htm . Minnesota Sports Online has now corrected their score, but this morning the Girls Hockey Hub is showing Crookston as the winners - this will obviously need to be fixed.

IN ANY CASE this changes the first night scoring for our contest as now everyone picks up the expected point. In addition Hansonbrother nails the bonus point for predicting the 5-0 score and takes over the preliminary lead:
