OR
did your assocation/District screw up and put you at the wrong level because the top end of your team isn't getting challenged at all??
Like I said, just an observation...
I concur though that B1 team organizations need to step it up or move them to a district that will allow larger organizations with A teams to play a more competitive season. Maybe combine districts at playing level up until playoffs.
19 orgs in D10 and only 8 fielding A teams at the Bantam level. IMO even the ones that aren't doing very well are still a welcome sight as at least they are in spirit and effort making the effort and you can't fault that. Howerver coincidentally with 6 out of the 8 teams in the top 20 in MYHockey rankings maybe those numbers scare the smaller orgs and they are safer playing down.
Then again maybe MH allowing a limited number of B1/A games and at all levels might help with sorting these kind of things out. IE Bantam B2/B1 U10A/B etc. I would hope this was at the beginning of the season before all the scheduling was done so they could be accomdated in if they so chose to play at a higher level then what they planned
New Prague Bantam B1 is playing exactly where they belong and are certainly not at the top of the heap...they got crushed by OMGHA Crimson.
Do they have any wins against top 10 teams?
IMHO, alot of associations have no business fielding an A team and most associations field B1 teams that should truthfully play B2.
If you look at scores of the games played by Edina, OMGHA, Wayzata etc... most of their games are blowouts. it isnt uncommon for Edina White or OMGHA Crimson to beat teams by 10-15 goals.
Not a huge hockey guy, but scores like that cant be good for either team.
Maybe rather than trying to determine whether your association should have x amount of "A" teams or x amount of "B1" and "B2" teams long before they have any clue how competitive they will be, they should form their teams in september based on the player rankings...1-15,16-30, etc. (Call them by a different color so the kids dont know which one is which...hahahaha)
Then as each team plays throughout October and November they earn their status as an "A" - "B1" - "B2" ranking and then play out the remainder of the season at their achieved level.
It would sure solve any discussions of this type and avoid alot of the blowout games. It might also give the whiners who thought they should have been on an "A" team the ability to prove themselves differently
