Eden Prairie at Duluth East, 1/15/11

Post by karl(east) »

Two AA powers square off at Amsoil arena in Duluth at 2:00 this Saturday. East has proven itself a very strong team so far this year, but EP is the undisputed #1 in the state at this point.

These two teams tied 2-2 in Eden Prairie last year.

 Just a bit off...

I make game threads from time to time, but there's no doubt I'm excited for this one. East had a nice win over GR, but I'm not easily satisfied...I want to see more. If they can play defense the way they did against GR and stay out of the box, they've got a fighting chance; if they can sustain the cycling forecheck, as they did in the 2nd period against GR, they have a very good chance. It all starts with the defense.

I'm also curious to see how these two teams try to match up their lines. Last year East had good success controlling Rau by matching their 3rd line with EP's top group.

Is a radio station picking this one up?

Judging by this Einstein-like analogy goes , I see East winning..

GR lost to EP 9-5
East beat GR 2-1

East Doubled the goal differential, while EP failed to .. Then you take the number of goals by each team to find the medium of this game

GR 6 goals total , minus the 11 scored on them is a 5 goal differential

Simple

East - 3
EP - 2

I can't tell if you're bing serious or not. In case you are, you should know that 1. this is not an analogy and 2. your logic is so flawed it's almost ridiculous. The total number of goals in a hockey game is so small that you can't go by the percentage of total goals scored by each team, just goal differential. Plus your little 11-6=5 so East 3 EP 2 thing makes no rational sense.
I hope you were kidding.
EP two out of three.

Heading to OT. [-o<

Hitting the refresh button on the Hub has to be one of the most agonizing ways to follow a hockey game.

Another OT loss on the road...happens I guess. Ford HAS to be better, simply can't let in 4 of 14. It's like he's gotten worse since his sophomore year at state.

Use the refresh feature. I believe it's a new feature.

Only option is 30 seconds and it doesn't actually refresh it, it re-opens it, so you have to scroll back down. Better than nothing.

Don't let the shots totals fool you - few of EP's shots were dangerous, the game was evenly matched and each team had an equal number of scoring chances. East seemed content to just ring the puck around the boards in the o-zone, which was frustrating for us East fans as we were continually imploring them to shoot the puck. Whenever East did shoot or crashed the net the EP goalie seemed confused and shaky. Neither team was particularly impressive and no player stood out, although Toninato and Rau each tallied twice. That said, it was a good game, though somewhat ragged.

You're asking us to not let a 32-14 shot total fool us?  EP showed that they have better skaters and a shakey goalie situation. It seems as though their state title hopes ride on whether or not Ford feels like showing up.

The shots were very accurate to the play you saw on the ice. Home cooking going on. How in the hell does a ref make up a hook call with 24 seconds on the clock?????????????????????/MADE UP BULLCHIT!!!!!!

That is what I am asking you, pal. Most of EP's shots were low percentage dribblers or shots from far away that Jeanetta had a wide open look at to easily steer away. Give EP credit, even though the shots were not high quality they at least shot. East spent too much time diddling with the puck in EP's end. EP had better skaters??? Really?
Both teams skated well, neither team controlled the puck for long in the others' end, and both easily broke out when they needed to. East converted better chances against a chump goalie, that's all.
