BEST HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAMS

Post by elliott70 »

Based on performance at the high school hockey tournament from 1990 to present, these are the best HS programs....

Alphabetically:
Anoka
Bloomington Jefferson
Duluth East
Edina
Elk River
Grand Rapids
Hastings
Hill
Holy Angels
Minnetonka
Moorhead
Roseau

(Based on aformula where winning and coming in second are the highest two values... finishing 3 and consolation are the next meanigful and 4th with some meaning. having 5 appearance gives you a higher value, thatn 4, 3 etc..)
(Just participating and not finishing is not worth any points.)

First and second by sectionsfrom 1990 to present

Section 1 2
1 0 0
2 2 3
3 2 2
4 4 1
5 6 0
6 2 2
7 2 6
8 3 7

Of course, there have been changes in section alignments, but it is a certain indicator that som esection provide quality opponents year in, year out.

But you combine the first calcualtion with the second post and for the most part these are the top programs, year in and year out.

Now you may want to toss out someone like Hastings and Anoka and throw in a Blaine, Eden Prairie, and Apple Valley to give you the top 15 of the last 20 years, but just thought it was a good starting point for the top 15 programs.

I just did AA teams for now.
But I agree, A teams and the cross-over teams need to be factored in with this or in a separate determination.

But Warroad, Hermantown, Duluth Marshall, Breck, Blake, St Thomas Academy (even if it pains me to include them), Little Falls, Fergus Falls, Hibbing, Virginia, others....
