This is not the first time that Apple Valley has upset a team playing the trap. the teams in their conference are use to seeing this from Apple Valley and play a different style game when approaching them. if the trap was so awesome, Apple Valley would be on the top of their conference every year. Duluth just got bit by it. If they played another game down the line, im sure that they are a good enough club to make the adjustments for a better looking game and more than likely a sure win.
Im sure when the #1 ranked Holy Angles at the time got knocked off in the second round of sections would surely remember how bad they fared against the trap. I believe that score was 4 to 1. Fortunatly for East, that game didnt end their season.

Was at the game, no need to trap when the puck was in the Hounds end for the better part of two periods. Bottom line was East just played uninspired hockey for two periods and got too far behind to catch up. I rank East right up with the best teams...they just had a lousy game and got beat, it happens.
Well put, East needed to lose a game somewhere down the road to knock them off of the cloud they were floating on after last week. Release the Hounds. Trek to the X.
Normal one hour weights from 5:45p - 6:45p and 1 1/2 hour normal practice time though no pucks the whole time. It took the Zamboni twenty minutes or so to scrape, sweep and flood the ice afterward to get it back in shape for the JV practice.DEHS Dan Green wrote:including weight training.WHAFightingSaints wrote:I'm guessing a 6 hour practice might be against the rules, so your source may be embellishing just a bit.

I'm in complete agreement. While all these other schools are beating each other up, Hill will probably run the table and be in great position come sections and state. Their odds of winning their section at this point are significantly better than those of any other team. Assuming they make the tourney, they will get seeded. Sure, their schedule is on the weak side, but that hasn't hurt them heading into the postseason in the past.keepyourheadup wrote:Great post, earning a top 4 seed the best you can hope for is a shot at section 1AA, and even the two lakeville schools have surprised a good team or two this year. Its got to be the most even playing field in recent memory. As much as it pains me to say this I think come tourney time HM will be a the team to beat. Not a private hater but they are likely the deepest team in the state like usual.
Also probably true. They've had upset losses in the regular season in the past that have left me with serious doubts about the team, but this wasn't one of them. Yes, they clearly have many things that need some work, but they have the time and the talent to get better. (For some perspective, at this time last year, East was tying Andover and losing to Elk River, and look where that season ended up.)Duluth4 wrote:Well put, East needed to lose a game somewhere down the road to knock them off of the cloud they were floating on after last week. AV also has a nice history of upsets. They got #1 Holy Angels a few years back, they knocked off top seed Woodbury 2 years ago with an unremarkable team, and they were the 4-seed last year too, then upset Eagan, Woodbury, and Blaine at state. That coaching staff deserves a lot of credit for readying the team for talented opponents late in the season.
Sounds good to me, PPG. I'd love to see a Hounds-Pioneers rematch in that game, or the next night...Pioneerprideguy wrote:The Hounds are a top 5 team, will win their section, and will be playing in the State Semis Friday night.
