Wayzata vs. Eden Prarie

Post by Danglesnipe&celly Tro »

Two of the best teams in the state. The rivalry from football season is gonna spill over into hockey. The crowd at PIC is gonna be huge, might set an attendance record. So pumped!!

A Wayzata fan here. Based on recent play by the Trojans, I have to go with EP in this one. 4 to 2 Eagles. I hope I am wrong. In my mind, this is a must win for the Trojans on their home ice. If they have any thought about getting the #1 seed in the regionals, they have to win.

Agreed..Wayzata has not been playing good lately. Eden Praires Kyle Rau and Goaltender Andrew Ford will both be stars in this huge game! Eagles 3-2

Wayzata beats Edina at braemar. Without Lucia? EP couldn't do it. this game is at PIC. I'll take the trojans 4-2 empty netter

Umm...I don't have complete confidence for EP going into this game. They have to play significantly better then they have in their last two losses.

Great flow to the first period; it's easy to see why both are great teams, though I thought Wayzata looked a little better in the 1st.

Mite hockey between periods amuses me, though this game is starting to drag on.

They said earlier he's been bothered by a hip injury.

Now 2-1 Eagles, middle of the 2nd.

EP has a two man advantage for over a minute. Looking for the tying goal with about 4 minutes to go.

OT. Just about everything you could ask for in a hockey game so far. Dead even.

Now going to OT. Clearly penalties cost the Trojans towards the end of the 3rd period. They killed one off on the 5 on 3 but EP (Rau) scored with 3 minutes to go on the 5 on 4.

A minute to go in OT. Wouldn't mind seeing a tie, probably a just outcome in this one.

A fitting ending, I suppose. This conference is just so dead-even.

For most of the game, Wayzata looked slightly (slightly!) better 5-on-5, but the penalties in the 3rd caught up with them.

After EP tied the game, both teams rolled 2 lines. EP just kept throwing their top two out there, while Wayzata loaded up with their big guns on the top line. I liked the EP approach better; their balance created a lot more sustained chances than the uneven Wayzata approach.

All in all, two very even teams with a lot of similarities. The Rau-Cameranesi battles all afternoon were fun to watch. EP was missing Molenaar.
