I had the right score 5-3 (including the empty net call), just the wrong order of the teams.
OK
Nice win for the STARS, they still did not play 100%, after all going short-handed 5 times before getting a power play. EP capitalized on 2 of them, so AHA needs to stay out of the box or at least get a couple of calls to go their way.
EP was fast and on the puck the entire way, until AHA went up 4 - 3. It appeared at that time they were whining to the refs every time one of the Rau's got touched. Forget the elbow the big Rau gave to LaBate in the third....Oh well. STARS have played with Edina and Tonka and actually played ok against Hill. Hill is my pick for the number one team. They are pretty smooth and play real good.
Huge win for Holy Angels. EP had two goals on powerplays and it looked like no calls were going AHA’s way. They ended up bearing down and they finished hard. It looks like it was just time for the Stars to get a big win. Congrats to them.

2 of the AHA penalties were bench minors for too many men on the ice. How can you whine about that? Refs evened it up in the 3rd calling two consecutive penalties on EP. The way I see it, 3 penalties to AHA and 2 penalties to EP. So EP's 5'8" brute was mean to your 6'3" boy? No fair!!!

He said "the big Rau" for a reason. 5'9" Kyle Rau has a listed 5'10" brother Curt Rau. Looked much bigger to me in person. Either way, I doubt the height of the player will matter much when it comes to an elbow.

My bad! However, while the Raus measure 10'19" when laid end to end, it looks like Kyle has borrowed an inch or two from Curt.

2 of the penalties AHA took were bogus and I saw EP get away with at least 3.

Didn't get to see this one so I can't comment much but the inconsistency of this EP team is really starting to get annoying. They can go out and beat Hill on the road and then have a bad streak like this. It's tough to win state like that.
I read about refs, non calls, bad calls. Box score shows 57 shots for EP, anyone see game to comment on AHA D, and goalie. 3 goals (2 PP) on 57 shots, the kid must of played well. Any comments from those who witnessed. I was at Breamar.

I was there and although EP had a lot of shots I cannot believe there were 57. Sounds like homer shots. I spoke with the goalie from AHA and asked him and he did not think there were 57 shots either. He should know....He played real well. Defense was having some issues blocking shots and picking up the opposition. I think they were still thinking about the Hill game.
I would certainly disagree that there were 57 shots as well. I think it was just a way of making them look better and making it look like AHA got lucky. Personally I think its just pathetic they need to do that to make themselves look better when they can't hack it. Congrats to AHA for a big win... BIG thumbs down for EP at this point.

They still have one of the most talented teams in the state. They're as good, if not better than whoever your team is.

The Vikes have more talent than Pack & Bears but can watch from the comfort of their living rooms Sunday. Maybe they will invite Budish, Lee, and Everson over and have a BIG talented party. Teams win championships!

And talented teams go on the road and beat Hill. Or did you already forget that one?

Im glad you mentioned Hill, best coach, currently playing the best hockey of teams I've seen, by a WIDE margin. Maybe if EP played # 7 for 80% of the game instead of 70% they stay within 3 of Hill now. If you can't find # 7 look in front of the opposing bench he's the one celebrating another PP goal. I agree EP has huge talent, but these kids have been playing together for 7-8 years. To beat Hill by one when Hill players were still trying to remember each others names I don't consider a huge win. I can see why it's "tough to be an Eagle" Has their been a community with more numbers that has as little to show ( at HS level ) than EP.

I find it funny how you make it sound as if "#7" is the only one that can score on the team. I believe that #28 was the one who scored the game winner against hill, who I'm guessing already knew each others names, and saying that EP only won by 1? A wins a win isn't it? Most people aren't gonna look back at a state championship game (Ep vs. Hill possibly) and say but they only won by a goal...

Yes.... and Holy Angels did beat Eden Prairie, by two goals actually. It doesn't matter what kind of talent they have on the team, it's about the consistency they can show game-in and game-out no matter who they're playing. Obviously this didn't happen in this game and EP will pay for, theres nothing anyone can do or say to stop that one. On the other side I'm still a little disturbed with the accusation that EP actually added shots to the board after losing. Does anyone have any class anymore?

Okay, lets take a look at the EP athletic program as a whole, shall we? There's this trophy out there called the challenge cup, awarded to one A and one AA high school every year that has the best athletic program overall. Since its inception four years ago, EP has won it three times. We have six football championships, two baseball championships (btw baseball got second in the nation in the legion world series this summer), countless individual and team cross country and track state championships, and one hockey championship, which is one more than Minnetonka. It's tough to be an Eagle because we're the team in EVERY sport that everyone is trying to beat. You can deny it all you want but it's the truth. We have had, indisputably, the BEST athletic program in the state three out of the last four years. Even the state high school league has recognized that. And by the way, you need a question mark at the end of that sentence. You know why I know that? Because we also have the most National Merit Finalists and AP scholars in the state. Out of anybody.
I think it would be a bigger issue if EP did not dominate high school athletics. The decision to become a mega school in a very affluent community dictates nothing less. The tradition and pride it has created speaks for itself. Lets not forget about the number of young athletes at this school who'll never compete at the varsity level. I have no problem with EP and even envy their success to some degree but it does come at a cost.
