This could have been avoided. Last year HM beat Sibley 12-0 & 10-0. At the conference meeting it was brought up by a couple of schools that they didn't want to play Hill twice this year. Those schools were Simley & Richfield. Those schools just felt like their programs were down and wanted to schedule teams that they could compete with. Hill agreed. When the coaches turned to Sibley's coach, he copped an attitude and said he wanted to play Hill twice. How did that work out for ya? Why not add a game that the kids feel good about afterwards? This stuff benefits nobody. Maybe another drubbing this year will cause Sibley to re-evalute their stance....or not.pioneers wrote:H-M 17 Sibley 2

Or possibly you can just be proud that your Pioneers are that much better than Henry Sibley.Pioneerprideguy wrote:This could have been avoided. Last year HM beat Sibley 12-0 & 10-0. Orono/Cathedral anyone?
This brings up the age old question of running up the score. But if Sibley's coach refused to play them only once, it's probably good they did what they did.defense wrote:Or possibly you can just be proud that your Pioneers are that much better than Henry Sibley.Pioneerprideguy wrote:This could have been avoided. 4-1 empty net Moorhead over Warroad
Spuds pull out win against a very good Warroad team. Lots of penalties in this game. Moorhead capitilzed on Warroad's turnovers. Bitzer for Moorhead made some very good saves tonight that kept the spuds in the game and frustrated Warroad. The lone goal that got by him.....well a bit sloppy goaltending. Spud defense failed to clear the puck and warriors players. Both teams had 5-3 power plays for over a minute and failed to put the puck in the net. Moorhead looked pathetic on the Power Play. It was nice to see the spuds entire team back from suspensions on the ice tonight. Now Morinville Just has to find a way to get them to play together.

Thats Mr. Potatohead to you!
Tonka really seemed to have Edina's number tonight, they knew exactly how they planned to played an countered every move. They also out skated them when they had to and capitalized on the opportunities that they had.Roseauverrated wrote:Minnetonka beats Edina 4-1 in their first meeting since last season's state title game.

AHA has been trying this for years, but in their conference it needs to be 100% and a couple of schools are against it. All schools would benefit....Pioneerprideguy wrote:This could have been avoided. Last year HM beat Sibley 12-0 & 10-0. Sibley - HM
Henry Sibley has a great hockey history but that was some time ago. They are 1-53 against the 6 conference schools other than Simley & Richfield over the past 5 seasons. If they had a chance to go to Simley & Richfield's arrangement this year they should have done it. Simley & Richfield are playing each conference team only once and play each other twice for a total of 9 conference games. Every one else has 14.
I'll guarantee you that HM does not want to play 17-2 games. Yesterday after 1 period it was 7-1 and they put in the backup goalie. They clearly had the 3 passes before shooting rule in the 2nd period. They only took 13 shots but 8 went in to make it 15-2. In the 3rd they skated around for 14 minutes without scoring. They had one in the 1st minute and 1 in the last minute to get 2. In between it was a skating practice.
sickflow22 - you said "Hills a bunch of kids that play as individuals at least these other teams play for each other not themselves"
This statement is based on what? From my seat they appear to play great team hockey, especially defense. I haven't seen a HM kid tap on the ice for the puck in several years. I saw a certain EP superstar do it several times in the game 2 weeks ago plus skate to the bench shaking his head when he didn't get the puck or score on a shift.

Hill never proposed this idea of playing once a year, other teams did. Simely & Richfield then were able to schedule a couple more competive games...so did HM. Sibley decided against it & basically got what they asked for. Just not a winning situation for either group of kids. I guess Hill's individuals were better than Sibley's team..sickflow22 wrote:you play to compete. at least sibley didn't back down to them like richfield and simley. there not gonna give hill a free 2 points because they ask for it, sibley said come get it. obviously they are going to be better individually, they pay to go there for hockey. The top kids in sibleys youth program leave for st. thomas and cretin every year. they are a good team with what they have, you can say stuff about them and how not backing down is a bad choice but is't that what hockey is about..not backing downPioneerprideguy wrote:Hill never proposed this idea of playing once a year, other teams did.
