Chin Straps?

Post by nahc »

Does anyone know of a good chinstrap that will really protect the chin? In football, there are a lot of really great chinstraps that protect the chin. I have not been able to find replacement type of straps for hockey hockey helmets. My skater has had his chin cut (requiring stiches) 3 times this year. We have adjusted the helmet and tightened the straps as much as possible........the chinpad still slides up when opposing players get their hands up during a check.........chin guard slides up and the chin is cut.......any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Is chin pad affixed to the facemask or attatched to the straps??? I believe the Itech style has a pad that is attatched to the straps that hold the mask in place. I think bauer made one like that too, both have cage masks. It would seem that the one that is attatched to the straps would be better at holding the pad in place. Only other suggestion would be to adjust the actual chin strap tighter.

You could purchase a football chin strap and custom fashion it to the facemask. I have seen it done before; be sure to find out if it does fit tho.

In addition, does the mask fit the head of the player, AND are they donning it on properly as well? Some masks are better than others when it comes to protection.
