karl, do you know what happened with the NCC? This is an example of teams playing in a different conference for football. With the case of the LSC it probably doesn't make sense to play football, so that makes sense. With co-ops there are plenty of teams already playing outside their normal conference. So, I don't think it would be outside the realm of possibility for something to happen if they wanted to make it happen.
I also don't think you'd get a consensus from the rest of the CSC, so staying would be better for the athletics as a whole.

9. It can be very hard for even established schools, in established conferences, to fill a schedule. Didn't both Wayzata and Eden Prairie get significantly shorted on football games last season?
Wayzata played 6 games and Eden Prairie played two (I'm assuming Canadian) teams 4 hours apart on the same day in Winnipeg. There was talk about playing each team home and away every year.

Hill Murray being in the in the Classic Suburan cconference is a great fit for all sports but hockey. What are the possible solutions for Hill. I would love to see Hill Murray join the SEC. It would really raise the level of play here, and strenghten the conference. I dont think however that they would be able to compete night in and night out in all the other sports. this is the dilema. Prior to joining The CSC, they were an independant school. we can blast them about their hockey dominance in the CSC, but where do they fare in the other sports. Is it possibe to play just hockey in another conference? Any plausible thoughts?
I wasn't aware that Hill-Murray identified a problem and was looking for solutions. They compete in a conference like most other teams and attempt to fill their nonconference games with quality opponents. This formula seems to be working just fine. I'm sure Coach Lechner appreciates everyone's concern regarding their current situation, but I'm sure they will just have to carry the burden they have been handed.

It is important to remember a few years back, Hill-Murray played in the Twin Cities Suburban Conference with WBL, Anoka, Blaine, Stillwater, etc. That conference split into the Suburban East and Northwest Suburban and Hill-Murray was asked (actually told wold be a better word) to leave the conference because they were not competitive in most sports. (their last year in the TCS, they lost to Elk River something like 81-0 in football) At this point, Hil applied to many conferences for membership, as required by MSHSL rules. They were turned down by every conference they applied to, including the Classic Suburban. When this happens, the MSHSL is required to place a school in a conference, using criteria such as geography and enrollment. Based on these criteria, Hill-Murray was placed in the Classic Suburban and it has been good fit for all sports, including hockey. It's not like Hill has been running roughshod over the conference in hockey or going undefeated every season. There are some teams which Hill has dominated, but that is the case in most conferences and in most sports.
The Pioneers are enjoying quite a Winter in the CSC. Boys hockey is undefeated in the conference and ranked as high as #1 in the state. Girls hockey is a game out of first place and has been ranked top 10 most of the year. Boys baskeball is undefeated and sits alone in first place and girls hoops are undefeated & ranked #1 in the state (and may be the best girls hoop team regardless of Class). Congrats to the kids/coaches/parents and good luck the rest of the way!

While they have clearly been the best team over the last many years, they do not have the domination on the conference AHA does of theirs. In the last 5 years, they have not been undefeated in the conference once, 2 years ago were in a 3 way tie for 2nd, 4 years ago tied for 1st.

Top girls hockey player grew up playing in what association?
Top two boys basketball scores grew up playing in what youth league?

that doesn't seem like domination
You are right, it's not domination. Which is why I said they are not dominating...

Ya have a lot to learn Newbie. Pay attention some of the Vets on here (I don't include mself in that group) and they will show ya how to play the game in here. I'll give ya a C- for the effort....don't feel bad, grading standars are higher at private schools.
There is danger of nor need for Hill to leave the CSC. As far as hockey, it is a no win situation. They are expected to finish first every year, no big deal if they do and a disappointment if they don't.
For my own selfish reasons, I'd like to see them play a half round of games, meeting each opponent once. Then play an independent schedule for the balance of the season. The post holiday schedule gets a little weak most years.
The Twin Cities Suburban, in the '80's, was a great hockey conference. Great games with WBL, Anoka, Blaine, Roseville, Stillwater. Then Elk River was added. Too bad it didn't last all that long.

What would the WBL and Stilly fans do without PPG to antognize them?
Im glad that this subject brought up so many views. There is a lot of knowledge on this forum, at least knowledge of history. I didnt start this topic because I am personally calling for Hill to be removed from the CSC. I was simply interested in the thoughts about Hill Murray and there current conference, based on comments people make about Hills large victory margins. Being from Woodbury, I have seen my fair share of defections to Hill. That is always going to happen, They are a private school. Im over that. If they were to switch to the SEC along with STA, I would enjoy the competition that it would bring. Cretin left the City conference and never looked back. They have fit in well to the sec and have become a great Rival. I personally dont have a problem with a team getting buried on the scoreboard. Out of respect for the other team, it would be more embarrassing if the powerful team just skated around with the puck and toyed with you.
