I don't know, I think even BoDangles would say that this year is a big disappointment. Then again I think this is his first year.greatone wrote:Will their JV coach finish the season then as the head then???
That is to bad, he was doing good things with the team he had.
Curious if it was his choice or the schools choice?
Last Night
Was he Coaching Last Night against Cooper in their 6-2 loss?
It is his SECOND year, I thought with the NEW ARENA COMING (THis is still happening?) This would become a pretty good job.
With the Miska brothers back again for next year, they MUST have been very disappointed in the season.
How has Hunter played in nets this year? His stats look good again and he is ONLY a sophomore still. Great athlete.
Details Please:

Re: Last Night
A total lack of maturity from a few of the parents has been the main cause for the problems.F14 wrote:Was he Coaching Last Night against Cooper in their 6-2 loss?

The Miska boys will probably be playing in the NAHL next year. Hunter is an amazing goalie. He had Alaska Anchorage and some other scouts at games and practices this year and last year as a freshman. I guess he's the type that flourishes facing 50-60 shots a night.

The Miska kid is a solid goalie but does not perform well enough to win games for his team. That may come with age but He is not clutch enough to stop the shots that should be routine saves. In my opinion He is overrated seeing that kids on his team even say he lets up soft goals when they need him the most.......

He saved 58 out of 61
29 alone in the third when the rest of his team put their heads down!!!!!
North Branch had 13 shots on goal....
Put any other goalie in the state in that situation and see how clutch they'll be.
The kid has more class than you could ever dream of having.

Re: Last Night
All I'm saying is that he is no where near the level your putting him up to be. NAHL is no place for ANY sophomore player, especially a goalie. And another thing Calvin Miska has 26 points this year in a terrible two rivers conference. If he was NAHL material after this year he would have at least 50 points. He could probably go play MNJHL for the Minnesota Wildcats like other North Branch Star Jarret Sachs, who you seemed to talk up a whole lot last year buddy. But he only has 4 points in the MNJHL in 18 games. So i think you just like to boast up your precious North Branch players.MrBoDangles wrote:They lost 3-1 to Proctor last night....JohnnyHopkins wrote:MrBoDangles wrote: A total lack of maturity from a few of the parents has been the main cause for the problems.

I didn't put Hunter at the national level last summer. How much better did he have to be considering the program that he is from?JohnnyHopkins wrote:All I'm saying is that he is no where near the level your putting him up to be. A NAHL team wanted both of the Miska boys..... Their parents thought Hunter was too young to be on his own.

Sounds like junior potential to me. Put "studs" like Shaughnessy in net for those games and a guarenteed 5+ goals will get by him. Best of luck to this Miska kid.MrBoDangles wrote:They lost 3-1 to Proctor last night....JohnnyHopkins wrote:MrBoDangles wrote: A total lack of maturity from a few of the parents has been the main cause for the problems.

Steve LeeF14 wrote:1) Who is coaching NB now?

They have the guy/group that did the Vadnais Arena and he's/they're saying 95% that they'll have a covered arena next year. We'll see...........

as a rival of NB I will personally vouch for Miska. GREAT goalie and would love to have him. He has tremendous upside being i think that it's only his second year in net? His brother may not have a great point total because he's played some defense I know and you say the conference is weak, but that also means he doesn't have much help to score himself. I wish them the best of luck in juniors. Btw could another reason that both Miskas are leaving be that the NB varsity program is folding after his year? Just a rumor I heard and that could also be why coach is gone. They're supposedly co-oping with St. Francis and I heard that the coach was offered that job previously and didn't want it so he probably wouldn't now either. I talked to him a little bit and he seems like a nice guy and a good coach for the talent he had. Anyway, Just rumors.. anyone know anything more?

Whatever Randy is up to I wish him the best.
Randy has always in my experience been an awesome teacher of the game who really seems to be able to get through to the youth players.
He is one of the pioneers of small game cross ice training with his summer programs. (Centennial Hockey can thank Randy for teaching their kids how to skate for about the last decade)
The only legitimate criticism I have ever heard of Randy is that he is a die hard Fighting Sioux fan.

Folding would be a good thing with the kids currently having to get up at 3:30am for practice. How this is not breaking some rules is beyond me.MHGr8ness wrote:as a rival of NB I will personally vouch for Miska. GREAT goalie and would love to have him. The co-op with St Francis (like the girls hs team does) would probably be a done deal, but now we have people pipe dreaming that a rink will be done for next year.

The North Branch parents were used to having a coach that they could tell what to do. The moms couldn't whine to get their little darlings playing time anymore.Jack Sparrow wrote:Whatever Randy is up to I wish him the best.

Re: Randy Gendreau out at North Branch
Here’s what I heard as to why North Branch Coach Randy Gendreau was suspended.
One, he was written up because he was defending the kids. The school buses did not show up two times, once to bring them to a tournament game and the other was to a practice (they have a morning practice & leave the school at 4:45 AM in the morning). So the kids had to drive themselves, which I believe is against Minnesota State High School Leagues rules. He emailed the parents to contact the busing garage to complain because the kid’s safety was at risk.
Two, there was a senior parent who caused lots of drama which caused him to be suspended. They didn’t know the specifics as to why, but something to do with emails going back & forth in which the senior parent forwarded to the Principal & Activates Director. We all know through the years that there’s always one parent who thinks that their kid is a superstar or who thinks their kids deserves more ice time then others even though their kid doesn’t go to all the practices. Unfortunately all the kids have to suffer from this one parents selfish decision.
The combination of all of this got him suspended. From what I heard he is a fantastic coach & doesn’t deserve to have his reputation smeared, so thought I’d share what I heard so any rumors can be stopped. I just hope he can go back to the North Branch program, they certainly can use him & his experience.
