While I do believe there is plenty of room for discussion at the top spot, putting Hill-Murray at number 6, minnscout, is to avoid following your own logic.
You believe Benilde should be at the top because they beat Tonka and Hill, but you have Hill-Murray at number SIX and Tonka at two when Hill beat them and tied the team right below them?
I don't mind different opinions, but keep your logic consistent in order to establish any sort of credibility.

Any of the my top 5 teams, will beat Hill any day of the week. They are definitely better teams, just because they have lost many by no means deserves a low ranking. The lake teams are stronger than any teams in the state. Benilde could maybe be bumped down to two or three, but I do not believe Hill is as good as everyone thinks.

Elaborate on that. Explain to all the people that rank on LPH, the HUB, etc. why they are wrong about HM. You're entitled to a opinion, but at least grace us with a explanation.Minnpuck27 wrote:Any of the my top 5 teams, will beat Hill any day of the week. Minnscout - It is quite easy & obvious in reviewing your posting history under your profile not only to determine who you play for, but who you are. Secret Agent Man says shame on you for doing what you are doing.
I am surprised Coach Pauly and BSM don't have a policy regarding players posting on these forums. I expect it out of players from the outstate or smaller schools who wish they could garner some attention. Not out of players on a top 10 team.
For that, Secret Agent Man 10 declares that BSM cannot be ranked higher than 10 for the rest of the year as you don't see any other top 10's in here doing what you are doing. Shameless self-promoting yourself is bad.

I play JGA, but by all means keep BSM out of the top 10, Hell dont even rank them at all. Rankings are opinions, trophies tell the stories.

"I scouted 3 games this week Benilde Chisago, EP Edina, and WayzAta Edina. I happen to see 3-5 games a week and that is where my opions come from."
Nice MNScout....really nice....Can't wait for your reviews for all of those games like the ones you have for BSM in your profile. Happy Scouting!

I THINK this because of depth. I think the top 5 teams are deeper than Hill is, and I think the Lake teams are better because they keep playing good teams every week, where as Hill and BSM play teams that aren't nearly as high of caliber.PuckU126 wrote:Elaborate on that. theres my edit.
Benilde does in fact have laptops with a policy
I believe there are as many as 8 teams that could win state but based upon today and where all the teams are at BSM and Minnetonka are playing the best and most consistant. That doesn't mean that either one of those teams even make the state tournament because you need to be playing your best hockey come section time. This year more than any I can remember is wide open and that is what is going to make the next few weeks so interesting. Come playoff time you can't have a off night you need to bring it every night.
Isn't raising questions about the the rankings called debate? I am NOT criticizing Karl (he's a big boy and he can handle it) just debating who is ranked where and why. I made it perfectly clear earlier in the year when I called Karl "a homer" (I believe it was around week 3) that I appreciate all the hard work he puts into these rankings and what a great job he does.starmvp wrote:I am so tired of hearing people saying, "I think so-and-so (their hometown team) should be above so-and-so (some rival they beat while it was probably their only big win of the season)." Great job once again. Ranking are rankings and don't mean much, but they provide a great insight on how certain teams are doing. It comes down to who is peaking at the end of the season.....
And yes, this season is particularly more difficult because of all the unexpected wins and losses.
Its just a mess and its hard to decipher, and people should recognize this before criticizing.
Hockeydad1893: Yes, using my logic I would have EP #1, BSM#2, HM #3 and Tonka #4. EP is still the team to beat.
Secretagentman: Get real. I think the LAST thing that coach Pauly or any other coach is worried about is people posting on this or any other site. Best first post ever?

HockeyMN1: Completely agree with your assesment that on any given night 1-5 could beat each other and EP (as of now) should be the #1 seed in 6AA.
PuckU126 & Starmvp: I've read your posts in the past and you two make a lot of sense but today I think the skin needs to be thicker. Objecting to the rankings is NOT criticizing, it's called debate. That's what the site is about. Good debate about Minnesota High School Hockey.

Really? I think there are numerous things we can critique about Hill, but their depth sure isn't one of them. I agree that EP is still the #1 seed in 6AA at this point. I also think they are more talented than anyone. However, 5 losses is quite a few, no matter how hard their schedule may be. They need to earn their way back to the top.
We can argue (and have argued) about BSM all season. I do think they have improved as the year has gone on, but other teams have, too. I still have some of the same doubts I've expressed all year. In AA this year, you can argue practically anything saying "Team a beat team B, so they should be higher than team C." There is no correct, objective formula. So I go by what I see, and by what I think makes for good hockey teams. It is, of course, a constant process of review and attempts at improvement. I've written down some of the things that have prompted dispute this year, or places where I have differed from other rankings. At the end of the year, we'll see if we can make anything of it. But for now, I'm going with what I have.
