AA Rankings for 2/6/11

Empty net goals. I don't care who is number one.all I can say is I have seen all the top teams play more that 5 times and some some more than that and right now BSM and Minnetonka are the best teams.

While I do believe there is plenty of room for discussion at the top spot, putting Hill-Murray at number 6, minnscout, is to avoid following your own logic.

You believe Benilde should be at the top because they beat Tonka and Hill, but you have Hill-Murray at number SIX and Tonka at two when Hill beat them and tied the team right below them?

I don't mind different opinions, but keep your logic consistent in order to establish any sort of credibility.

Elaborate on that. Explain to all the people that rank on LPH, the HUB, etc. why they are wrong about HM. You're entitled to a opinion, but at least grace us with a explanation.

Will be interesting to see where Tonka ends up next weekend. Jefferson clearly isn't the team they used to be, but the Skippers cannot overlook them with Edina and EP on the horizon. imho they need to do better against EP this time around to be considered as high as #2.

I play JGA, but by all means keep BSM out of the top 10, Hell dont even rank them at all. Rankings are opinions, trophies tell the stories.

I believe there are as many as 8 teams that could win state but based upon today and where all the teams are at BSM and Minnetonka are playing the best and most consistant. That doesn't mean that either one of those teams even make the state tournament because you need to be playing your best hockey come section time. This year more than any I can remember is wide open and that is what is going to make the next few weeks so interesting. Come playoff time you can't have a off night you need to bring it every night.

I couldn't imagine working through the mess this year has presented us and coming up with such great rankings. Great job once again. Ranking are rankings and don't mean much, but they provide a great insight on how certain teams are doing. It comes down to who is peaking at the end of the season.....

Its just a mess and its hard to decipher, and people should recognize this before criticizing.

I am so tired of hearing people saying, "I think so-and-so (their hometown team) should be above so-and-so (some rival they beat while it was probably their only big win of the season)." I'll let those people criticize the rankings once their team wins state, but until then......

Isn't raising questions about the the rankings called debate? I am NOT criticizing Karl (he's a big boy and he can handle it) just debating who is ranked where and why. I made it perfectly clear earlier in the year when I called Karl "a homer" (I believe it was around week 3) that I appreciate all the hard work he puts into these rankings and what a great job he does.

Hockeydad1893: Yes, using my logic I would have EP #1, BSM#2, HM #3 and Tonka #4. EP is still the team to beat.

PuckU126 & Starmvp: I've read your posts in the past and you two make a lot of sense but today I think the skin needs to be thicker. Objecting to the rankings is NOT criticizing, it's called debate. That's what the site is about. Good debate about Minnesota High School Hockey.

Really? I think there are numerous things we can critique about Hill, but their depth sure isn't one of them. In fact, their depth is one of the big reasons I have them in the top spot...

I agree that EP is still the #1 seed in 6AA at this point. I also think they are more talented than anyone. However, 5 losses is quite a few, no matter how hard their schedule may be. They need to earn their way back to the top.

We can argue (and have argued) about BSM all season. I do think they have improved as the year has gone on, but other teams have, too. I still have some of the same doubts I've expressed all year. In AA this year, you can argue practically anything saying "Team a beat team B, so they should be higher than team C." There is no correct, objective formula. So I go by what I see, and by what I think makes for good hockey teams. It is, of course, a constant process of review and attempts at improvement. I've written down some of the things that have prompted dispute this year, or places where I have differed from other rankings. At the end of the year, we'll see if we can make anything of it. But for now, I'm going with what I have.
