Currently 9th in the state in points, however has played less games than those in front of him, and is averaging the 3rd most points per game.[/quote]

7 more points tonight, now has 60 pts in 18 games this season against tough AA competition, also now top 5 scorer in the state.. Kids for real, keep an eye out for him at the tourney this year because South just beat toughest southern competition in 1AA 12-3.. the only team that I see as having a shot in 1AA is Lakeville North and South beat them 7-1 earlier this year, but North didn't play their good goalie.. He will need to stand on his head against Kloos and Harvey of South

Wasn't my list...I just took it from the other post that was locked. I shortened the list to 40 players total because I thought listing 60 "top" juniors like the original list had is overkill. That's a few too many "top" players at that level.

I think Baskin and Rothstein (21 pts each) at least deserve mention (while not being at the top of anyone's list). And Behounek has been good, albeit not against the stiffest of competition so he probably needs much more ice time to be really considered.

He is good but let's see how good he really is against top competition!
Let's compare: Unranked(but tough AA competition)
Kennedy-6pts, Prior Lake-4pts, Rosemount-4pts, Lakeville North-6pts, Kennedy-7pts, Rosemount-4pts, Century-7pts. In those 7 games he had 38 points or 5.4pts/game

Against top 10:
Eagan-0pts, Hill Murray-1pt, Bville-2pts, Bville-1pt, EP 2pts, Eagan-0pts
Total against top 10 in 6 games=6pts or 1pt/game.

Do you see a pattern here? Not sure he's the guy you want to count on in big games. Will be tough to see some of the top teams not go to state and a team who just lost 10-0 possibly there.

It's not unusual to see top players on short-bench teams with few points against good, deeper teams. It's easy for deep teams to key in on the other team's top line/player. Kloos proved himself just fine in the Elite League.

You proved my point. He isn't the guy to count on while playing for LS b/c good teams will key on him. I have no doubt he will be a good player at the next level, not so sure he will look too good at state though.

yes kloos' numbers are lower against the good teams, but thats true for any top player. i think the key thing that has gone unmentioned is that he is the only reason the lakeville south team puts any pucks in the net against the top teams.

Against good teams he plays the entire game, so thats another added affect to his lower numbers.

Other good teams: 4 pts against Apple Valley, 4 points against Jefferson

Burnsville- 2 points (short handed goals) out of the 4 goals.
1 of 1

E.P- 2 of 5

yes they lost to eagan by 10, but i think that was a random event, the other games were at least respectable. especially the ep one where with some good goaltending it would have been a great game.

If they make it to state, which it will require a collapse even worse than the one that stopped LS last year, you will know which kid he is. He is a 1 man line, putting up numbers like kyle rau's last year with much less support around him.

I have watched Justin since he was a peewee. Doesn't matter what team he plays against he is a constant threat and very skilled. Against one of the best teams in the state, though LS lost, he was constant threat entire game. Needs a little bulk--and that will come.

I think the argument that he doesn't put up as many pts. against top 10 teams is a little obvious. I mean obviously players are going to get more points against weaker competition. Lets look at #1 on that list Luica, 4 pts against Buffalo, Osseo, and Champlin but 0 pts against Minnetonka, was shut out twice against Moorehead, and only had 1 pt. in both games against Maple Grove. Same can be said to probably all the top scorers.. They may play a great game against good competition but it won't show up on the score card as 6-7 pts. as it will against weaker competition. And to base LS season on one bad loss is ridiculous, they may not be top 10 in the state but if their goalie has a good game they can give just about anyone a run for their money with the goal scorers on their team

It seems odd to me that Kloos's skill level/value to team/ability should be judged solely based on the fact the he, admittedly, puts up big numbers against some of the weaker teams, or that a team of which he was one of 18 members lost 10-0. That being said, here's a comparison of his stats to AJ Michaelson's (who, don't get me wrong, is a great player and deserves all mention and consideration he's received as such).

Against common opponents (conference games and Eden Prairie)

Kloos - 50 pts. in 15 games - 3.33 ppg's
Michaelson - 36 pts. in 15 games - 2.4 ppg's

Against common "Quality" opponents (Eagan, Burnsville, Jefferson, AV/LS, Eden Prairie)

Kloos - 16 pts. in 8 games - 2 ppg's
Michaelson - 12 pts. in 7 games - 1.7 ppg's

Acknowledging that Michaelson is a great player and has put up terrific numbers so far this year, what exactly did Kloos do to be a guy "not to be counted on"?

Someone is pushing pretty hard for his PR. Got a blurb in the StarTribune this morning.

Excellent player and don't know if I'd trade him for Michaelson. Kloos is a very good playmaker and Michaelson is not. Kloos is a 93 and Michaelson is a 94 but both are juniors.

Lets just say I know quite a bit more than you. Flashy one dimensional players are common. True playmakers with vision are rare. One has completed 5500 passes this season and the other 55.

Stick to hoops.
