Max Everson Done?

Looked like he suffered a pretty bad wrist injury tonight (could be a huge blow to this squad). Any reports on the prognosis?

I'm no doctor, but that looked like a pretty serious injury. I was on the rail near the blue line, and he appeared to be in serious pain. Hopefully it's not as bad as it looked, but it looked pretty bad. But again, I don't have any more than that, so I would be curious as to his prognosis as well.

It's too bad if it is, would like to have watched him a couple more times.
they don't show a lot of Harvard games on TV.

Mr. Hockey finalist scheduled for surgery on wrist today

The Overtime Radio Network provides feedback from the Edina Hornets and Minnetonka Skippers game last night. Multiple story lines evolved from the game as the Hornets picked up a 4-2 win over the Skippers. It avenged an earlier loss to the Skippers this season at Braemar Arena and was the first time Minnetonka has lost at home since January 10, 2009. The victory came at a huge price, though, as the Hornets lost Mr. Hockey finalist Max Everson to a wrist injury.

The Hornet defenseman was scheduled to have surgery on his injured wrist today. The injury occurred late in the game as Everson was in a foot race for a puck through the neutral zone. He was losing his angle on the empty Skippers net and opened up enough to feed a pass to the waiting Steven Fogarty in the slot who buried it in the empty net. As Everson passed he was hit and fell into the boards awkwardly injuring his wrist on the boards.

It was a somber post game for the Hornets who lost a leader and key contributor. Hornets head coach Curt Giles, an NHL veteran and defenseman, cited Everson as the the best defenseman in high school hockey. Only two defensemen were named as Mr. Hockey finalists as Everson and Benilde-St. Margaret's Patrick Daly were bestowed that honor.

are you sure he's out for the season? of all the bones to break (especially for a defenseman) the wrist seems like one you could play with. who steps up for this team at defense? tough to lose two top defenders (parker reno was a solid defender last year as a freshman and has been out with knee injury all season), but this program has a lot of depth...should be interesting going forward

are you sure he's out for the season? of all the bones to break (especially for a defenseman) the wrist seems like one you could play with. who steps up for this team at defense? tough to lose two top defenders (parker reno was a solid defender last year as a freshman and has been out with knee injury all season), but this program has a lot of depth...should be interesting going forward

I've never heard of anyone playing hockey with a broken wrist. Reno is a great player but it's tough to say that he is a top two defender when he really didn't get much ice time last year in the playoffs or state tournament....

Without Everson it's probably down to EP, Hill, or Wayzata for the state championship. EP Wayzata in 6AA final will be the de-facto state semi (Tonka's not that good), and then the winner of that will meet Hill for it all at the X.

Section 2AA and 6AA are still going to have some battles in playoffs. Edina without Everson will hurt them a lot as their defense isn't very strong... The winner of section 6AA will most likely end up in the state final against Hill.

I still think there will be an upset in section 2AA but we'll see. If Hill dominates their section and finishes strong I think they will get the first seed and then the others in the order you said...

assuming his wrist is in a cast, and he can get a glove on, i see everson playing again this season. maybe section finals. he can definitely skate meanwhile, i wouldn't count him out yet...

You can put him in a cast, stuff a glove over it, and throw some skates on him; however, I guarantee he will not be on the PP, light on SH situations, he will not be affective in the offensive zone, and he will be prone to exacerbate his injury. His puck handling ability, including passing and shooting, will drop considerably lower.

I am not new to seeing this injury, even to a hockey player, and if he chooses to return, he may do more harm than good... Pain is going to be a issue as well as handling the puck; it will become very cumbersome to Max.

I just looked this up, Gardiner broke his wrist in the Schwan Cup on Dec. 29 and came back Jan. 23. So it could be possible for Everson to return but not likely.

Wagontrain Live! Note: Updated 2/11/2011 9:59pm The Wagontrain Live was informed by sources close to the Edina Hornets that surgery performed on Edina defenseman Max Everson's wrist. There is as potential he could return to the line up in two weeks which would be in time for the section semi-finals.

He has been skating with the team all week, so his legs won't be rusty...looks like section semifinals (feb 26) is a possibilit, but section finals (mar 2 assuming they make it) is much more likely...
