Tonight's scores:

Section 1AA
Lakeville South 4, Winona 1
Owatonna 3, Rochester John Marshall 2 OT
Farmington 8, Dodge County 1
Lakeville North 4, Rochester Mayo 1

Section 2AA
Edina 11, Bloomington Kennedy 0
Prior Lake 6, Shakopee 0
Chaska/Chanhassen 2, Bloomington Jefferson 1
Eden Prairie 4, Holy Family/Waconia 1

Section 4AA*
White Bear Lake 7, St. Paul Blades 3
Roseville 6, Tartan 0

*(Hill-Murray vs. Cretin-Derham Hall and Stillwater vs. North to be played tomorrow (Saturday) 2/12.

Point totals are bunched right now at between 14-16 points, to be expected as just about everyone has predicted (so far) which teams would advance to the semi's. The one major exception: Prior Lake as nobody thought they would beat Shakopee. And 6-0 is not exactly a squeaker...

I will not be able to update tomorrow's games until late Sunday or early Monday - will be out of town tomorrow and most of Sunday.

MNHock, thanks for letting me participate and for phrasing it as "not using the scores to my advantage" as opposed to something closer to the truth like "very crappy predictions". Good luck to all.

Since by now everyone has had plenty of time to digest Saturday's scores I'll just go ahead and post the interim point standings. The one comment I have is there were no correct scores in the semi-final games played in 3AA.

1. Silent But Deadly - 37 (and congrats on that big double overtime win over Wayzata!)
2. OntheEdge - 35
3. mnhock10 - 34
gopher25 - 34
5. MNHockeyFan - 33
FlyingWarrior - 33
penaltyshot - 33
8. TeamFirst - 32
woogieboogiewoogie - 32
10. Unbiased* - 31
sinbin - 31
12. hockeym11* - 30

* Unfortunately Unbiased and hockeym11 did not get their predictions in for Section 8AA.

Great night of section hockey as four of the eight games are decided by just one goal, with one needing three overtimes to decide it. Surprisingly we've had just one correct score so far, and that was by TeamFirst who correctly predicted the 4-3 Hill Murray-White Bear Lake score. That helped TeamFirst nose out yours truly to hold 2nd place going into tomorrow night's action. Until then Silent But Deadly maintains his 1st Place position after correctly picking all of tonight's winners.

1. Silent But Deadly - 61
2. TeamFirst - 58
3. MNHockeyFan - 57
4. OntheEdge - 53
5. mnhock10 - 52
gopher25 - 52
7. penaltyshot - 51
8. woogieboogiewoogie - 50
(others have less than 50)

Point totals through tonight except for the Centennial-Anoka game which is still going on:

1. Silent But Deadly - 82 (again picked all winners so far tonight, plus got the 2 point bonus for predicting the Coon Rapids-Irondale 4-1 score)
2. MNHockeyFan - 76 (hanging in there, need Centennial to win if I'm going to make a run)
3. TeamFirst - 72
4. sinbin - 68
5. OntheEdge - 67
hockeym11 - 67 (would be higher if Section 8AA picks had been posted)

8. woogieboogiewoogie - 64

Ughh, I think Anoka's 2-1 four overtime victory over Centennial might have done me in...but congrats to Silent But Deadly who picked Anoka and extended his lead over the rest of the field. Hopefully this will soften the blow for him a bit after last night's crushing defeat at the hands of No. 1 Minnetonka :wink:..

Updated point totals with just Friday's big finale (6 games) left to go:

1. Silent But Deadly - 85
2. MNHockeyFan - 76
3. TeamFirst - 72
4. sinbin - 71
5. OntheEdge - 70
6. penaltyshot - 68
7. hockeym11 - 67
8. woogieboogiewoogie - 64
9-12. Four others with 61-57.

Good luck to all the remaining teams!

Doesn't affect our contest here but some surprising scores in Class A tonight, as two No. 1 seeds go down and another got a big scare:

2A
#3 Hutchinson 3, #1 Mankato West 2 OT

5A
#2 Breck 5, #1 Blake 2

8A
#2 Crookston 2, #1 Warroad 3 OT

Huge night for girls high school hockey with six of the eight Class 2A champions being decided. I will be attending one of these important matchups myself, but will make every effort to update the scores and spreadsheet so that our own "Section Prognosticator Champion" can be awarded the GRAND PRIZE before the night is over.

1AA – Lakeville South 6, Farmington 2

2AA – Edina 4, Eden Prairie 1

4AA – Hill-Murray 4, Roseville 3

5AA – Coon Rapids 4, Anoka 1

6AA – Minnetonka 4, Benilde-St. Margaret’s 0

8AA – North Wright County 3, Roseau 2

Best of luck to all the teams!

Congratulations to all the winners tonight and especially to the teams making the State Tournament for the first time! Personally I don't see an overwhelming favorite to win it all this year and I expect there will be many very competitive games.

Congratulations also goes to Silent But Deadly who wins 1st Place in our 2011 Section Prognosticator contest. Silent But Deadly had many fine showings in our weekly regular season contests, having finished second a number of times, so winning the grand finale had to be pretty special for him! Overall, Silent But Deadly predicted 22 of 24 winners in the 8 section final games plus 16 semifinal games, plus he got three correct scores including tonight's North Wright County 3-2 win over Roseau and Edina's 4-1 win over Eden Prairie. A remarkable showing, and again congrats to Silent But Deadly!

Final Standings - thanks also to everyone who participated.
1. Silent But Deadly - 109
2. MNHockeyFan - 98
3. TeamFirst - 97
4. penaltyshot - 95
5. woogieboogiewoogie - 91
sinbin - 91
7. hockeym11 - 89
8. OntheEdge - 85
9-12. Four others with 81-70.

Sorry about that - you are correct on the Edina/EP score. For some unknown reason I totally missed that as I did also for another contestant who finished out of the running.

Your correct final point total is 109 - an 11 point margin of victory! So it's now officially OK to gloat (just a little)!
