haha i'm an 18 year college freshmen and I dislike St. Thomas as much as you do. I'm just a realist who realizes Mahtomedi probably doesn't have the talent to beat St. Thomas this year. Congrats that your team made it to state the last two years but those two years are over it's time to focus on the here and now.

Never say never in HS sports or any level for that matter. The Zephyr team last year was the underdog, but they consistently found away to win games until the last weekend.

Slam the Cadets, hate the Cadets for that matter, but they still have two State Championship Banners hanging from their arena rafters.

Mahtomedi had their best chance (ever) last year and failed to get it done. Back to back state tournament appearances with a 7th place and 4 place finish. Well ?

I am going to go out on limb here, but i am willing to bet the players that are on the mahtomedi hockey team are the same players that played mites, squirts, peewees & bantams at mahtomedi.

the mshsl does not allow s.s.m. to play a minn high school schedule, why should hill, sta, bsm, ha, etc be permitted to do so?

One only needs to look at the elite league rosters . . . . . hill, sta, bsm, routinely have 3, 4, 5, players participating. How many players on average come from the smaller public schools ? 1, maybe 2

where is the level playing field ?

sta is section 4 single A - when you think about it, shouldn't you be winning the section every year?

Johnny, get yourself a time machine and go back to 1974. There you can debate whether private schools should be in the MSHSL. Otherwise it's been a done deal for 37 years.

I am not agreeing with the Chisago section finals appearance; best of luck with that one.

But I will say that I wouldn't be surprised if Chisago did eliminate Mahtomedi.

Lets see. It sounds like Jennifer Aniston will date about anybody so I suppose you have a shot.

If you define a desert as a place where the average yearly precipitation that falls is very low then above the arctic circle is a desert (just a very cold one), then yes a polar bear does crap in the desert so ..............

nahhhhh, no way.

I would like to see Mahtomedi upset St. Thomas Academy for the third year straight, but I just don't know if Mahtomedi has the talent that St. Thomas does. Although I have STA winning this one, don't be too suprised if Mahtomedi upsets STA again. As we have seen in high school hockey, playoff time is a whole different atmosphere and there are upsets everywhere around the state. All they need to do is be oppurtunists, and have some out of this world goaltending by Marshall.

I think this is the year for STA to run the table after two years of section disappointment. 5-2 STA MAHT fina.
