Ouch. I was expecting a close game.Geno Snipes wrote:All 3 St. Michael goalies were either hurt or sick. They had a senior forward in net.

Yes that is wrong. Senior forward Brian LaVallee was in net for the Knights...his 50 some saves is quite impressive for a non-goaliesilentbutdeadly3139 wrote:Is Hockey Hub box score wrong ? I was at the game yesterday (left after 2 periods). The kid obviously gave up his fair share of softies as you'd expect from a first timer. That said, he did make quite a few saves and even some pretty solid ones.zamboniracer wrote: Yes that is wrong. I'm just wondering why they'd have a top 5 point getter between the pipes. Seems to me they should have had one of their less good (political correctness?) players strap them on. Unless Lavellee was the only team player willing to play goalie. Either way, kudos to the kid for being a team player and be willing to go in and play goalie and keep good spirits.

Denfeld was in Hermantowns section last year and got moved out to 7aa this year. There will be section reallignment after this season anyway and Hermantown will likely be moved again. In the last 10-12 years they have played in section 2,7 and 5. They have no choice in where they go. And as far as moving up to get respect, they have 1 State Championship ever. And that is the only group of Seniors who made it to State at the Youth level.
This year they are 1-3 against AA teams(Rapids, EP Cloquet and Bemidji)
They beat Rapids on a Tuesday when Rapids tplayed their back up goalie and played East that Thursday. After taking EP to OT, in which EP hit 6-7 pipes and outshot Htown 3:1 and 17-1 in OT, they played Cloquet and got ran. Move up? To be a middle of the road AA team. No thanks. Lets move them up when they can compete against AA teams in the youth level first and win more than one State tourney until then this conversation is really old.

Denfeld/Central is playing in 7A this year not AA.
And as far as the only group of seniors to make it to state level you are correct the seniors from the championship team went to state as Bantams but also the sophmores amd juniors on that team went to state the same year as Pee-wees. And last years seniors led by Adam Krause went to state as Pee-wees also.

You said in your last post that the only group of youth players that made it to state were the seniors on the 07 championship team. Now its the senior krause group that went to state in 10. Make up your mind. And just because there is only a banner in the arena from Consolation just means that is the only year they placed in the tourney. I believe all 3 age groups on the 07 championship team (Chad Huttel Captain) went to state as youths. I believe the senior 07 class went as Bantams. Know for a fact the jr's 08 class and the sophmore 09 class from the state championship team went as pee-wees. The 09-10 classes went to regions and won their first 3 games only to lose the last one just missing the state tourney. And the senior 10 class (Adam Krause Captain) Went to state as Pee-Wees the next year. Check the Regional Championship banners that qualify you to the state tourney not just banners from state. If you didn't place at state you don't get a banner.HawkeyPower wrote:No other group of youth Hermantown kids went to State in Bantams or Peewees besides the Senior Krause group. That group went as Peewees and won the Consolation that year. I meant the Krause group for Peewees. Forgot about the Region Champ banners. Thanks for the clarification. Still doesn't really change my original thoughts.Northhcky wrote:You said in your last post that the only group of youth players that made it to state were the seniors on the 07 championship team. From what i've hear Lavalley is a great kid. He also plays catcher and first base in baseball so i don't know if that factored in on the decision, but he's a leader and he just felt like he had to step up and try something new for the team. Really speaks for his character. That's gonna be a story that he'll get to tell for many years to come.BobSaget wrote:I was at the game yesterday (left after 2 periods).
