SSP does it again
Great victory for Palmquist's team. A very fun and memorable game. Felton was outta her mind, especially the last few minutes. Have no idea how the across the crease pass didn't go in.
I can splash in the rink puddles!
ssp?
not sure why anyone would have doubted they would be in championship game.....
other than they really haven't gotten much respect this year. not sure why, it is essentially the exact same team as last year which finished 3rd. and next year it will be the same players back again...

Except for the girl who scored the game winning (and only) goal today. And the goalie who played "outta her mind."cigar wrote:and next year it will be the same players back again...
In any event, I'm sure they'll be right there again next year.

And many years after that as long as they remain in the Section they are in.MinnGirlsHockey wrote:Except for the girl who scored the game winning (and only) goal today. And the goalie who played "outta her mind."cigar wrote:and next year it will be the same players back again...

I'd say SSP has some "all stars" as well. Should be a great game! Usually I'd pull for a northern team, but I hope to see SSP give Warroad all they can handle.JohnnyBuck wrote:Good luck today against the Warroad "ALL star" team. I usually cheer for the outstate teams but will have a hard time today. I will be at the game today cheering but have to give blood first so I can afford to take the family.
I say if you play any games in AA during the year then you must play AA in the state tourney. Playing AA teams during the year and competing well then dropping down and cruising thru the state A tourney seems silly. And the argument that "more teams make it" Who cares, we don't want to see the more teams get beat 12-1 or 9-0. If you want to see more teams make it get the 20-5 or 19-6 teams that didnt make it who played in tough sections....Also, does it cost that much to televise on CH45m not too many televised games to see those "more teams"
Was prepared to root for the underdog SSP until I read the Strib comments from SSP's coach complaining about seeding. I hate to quote Al Davis, but when it comes down to it, "just win, baby". Let your play do your talking. SSP is clearly very strong team. Good game for 2 periods, but Warroad took over in the 3rd. AA final should be much closer.
ssp?
i agree with palmquist that they should have gotten second seed. but second or third seed doesn't make any difference so to complain about it doesn't do any good. i think he may have felt a little slighted though. i would agree they were.
i had to miss the game but it sounded like it was a good one. they gave warroad a good scare....

ghs,
ssp loses three players. two goalies and chulla. they will miss chulla but the entire year goaltending was a challenge for them.
if they have a solid goalie next year the team will be stronger. they should be a favorite for the "a" crown.

I agree - I'd pick them to win it. I thought they finished 3rd or something a year ago (again, essentially with the same squad) - so - put together that, this year 2nd place, sr yrs for some top players next yr, and experience for the entire squad (even some very young players) - should be fun to watch. I will say that Dave did a great job with this squad. Maybe they deserved a higher seed, but that got made into more than it needed to be by all I believe.
