Now the question is:

Can WB get to the Semifinals or will we see them at Mariucci Friday morning?

Mac Jansen has lived in the shadows of Brandon Wahlin and Max Birkinbine for the past 4 years. While those guys are making A Bantams, Mac gets sent to B Bantams, and does everything in his power to prove people wrong..

He eventually makes varsity as a 4th liner/JV player as a soph while Birki and Wahlin are 2nd line... then works his tail off and gets to 3rd line..

Last year, he gets to play some 2nd line and scores 10-15 goals or so.. And this year, he not only has come out from the shadow of Birki and Wahlin, he has been the MVP of the team. I don't care what anyone else says.. Mac = MVP of the SEC.

That was Mac's 35th goal this season and the greatest goal of his life.

Congrats, Mac - you deserve it!!

Assuming they are (and it looks likely now), it took two upsets to get them there! But I'm happy. :)

Nobody went down in flames, MG and Hill had great years and played great tonight and fell short in OT both games could have went either way. Congrats to Blaine and WBL

Crimson...I agree, but I figure i will let them enjoy their night. It only happens once in so many years (at least for hill/wb)

I am very Happy for WBL but was hoping for a better outcome for MG, damn those kids worked so hard this year to prove they can compete with anyone and I hope they have gotten the respect of those that didn't before. I tip my support to the Bengals first and WBL second in the tourny.

The phrase "go down in flames" means "to fail or end suddenly and completely". I stand by my comment. If you don't believe it, check it out here:

Lastly, I'm sure the Spuds will go down in flames next week too!

SEMinnyHCKY wrote:WOW! Biggest upset in this rivalry's history?
Not even close to the biggest upset, WBL isn't a bad team this year, they won their conference and had 20 Wins on the season. 1996, however, WB was 8-14-1 going into the section semis and Hill was 22-1 going into the game, beat them 7-0 & a week before the semis, HM won 6-2. 7 mins into the first OT, Roed scored to send WB to the section finals with a losing record. That was the most painful loss in this rivalry...

hockey can be incredible at times
Wow I can't believe South choked again. You would think they'd be inspired to beat the piss out of North after last year but they let them slip away again.

Anybody have any videos of the Lakeville or WBL/Hill games? I always love to watch games that end with an OT winner!!

Just as we all thought everything was going according to plan......

Lakeville North stuns heavily favored Lakeville South in triple overtime

White Bear Lake breaks the curse and finally beats Hill-Murray in double overtime

Maple Grove loses an absolute heartbreaker in overtime as Blaine wins the section for a 6th straight time.

3 #1 seeds go down in overtime. This was easily the most exciting night of hockey we've seen in a long long time.

Wow!! The stars were certainly aligned tonight..

Not only did WBL beat H-M, but check this out!!!

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Federal and local authorities said Friday they have arrested a suspect in the so-called East Coast Rapist case for attacks on at least 17 women in Connecticut, Maryland, Rhode Island and Virginia.

Members of the U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Task Force arrested Aaron Thomas, 39, "without incident" at his home in New Haven, police spokesman Joseph Avery said.

The attacks began in 1997 and occurred in Connecticut, Maryland, Rhode Island and Virginia. The cases were linked by DNA. Investigators said they have cleared more than 700 suspects.

IT EVEN TOOK 14 YEARS FOR THIS TO HAPPEN!!!!!

This tourney should be fantastic like all previous Minnesota State High School Hockey tourneys. I have never seen or been a part of high school sports that can hold a candle to this event. Top that off with single elimination and the fact that any team making it to the top in their section can win the games on a given night.......! Section Finals have been played and there have been some awesome games. Now, let's book the rooms, load the buses, pack the coolers, and DROP THE PUCK! Good Luck to ALL TEAMS! \:D/

Keepie.... Unfortunately, this game got lost in the WBL v H-M game, but to have 51 saves does it every time!! Congrats to both teams on what had to have been a great game as well.
