While I'd love to see WBL break that jink, I'm not thrilled at the prospect of it coming at the Hounds expense!

Anyone else notice how in both classes, as in AA last year, the seeds have basically gone in the order the teams are ranked? (ie. 1 v. 8, 2 v. 7, etc.)

They're no longer fooling me by claiming these draws are "random." Why not just call it what it is?

I wanted to be able to root for WBL in the first round. :x

My sentiments as well Lee...

I was hoping I could cheer for both teams in separate games, now one has to lose in first round...

EP - North is too bad for tourney fans...

Overall, we will be treated to three good games though, Blaine/Edina is a nice matchup, Moorhead/ Eagan is a good matchup and could go either way, and WBL will now have to get past a very good quarterfinal foe in East...

Yes, Edina/Eagan and East will be favored, but there is a good feel to those three games...

Should be fun... \:D/

North had EP down 3-2 after 2 periods. Lundgren can steal any game. North is a very dangerous team.

Well then... I did not know that was as close a game earlier this year... Yes, you are right, North's goalie has played well this year, and really turned it on in Sections as well...
Hot goalie bodes well at this time of year, I cannot deny...

EP though... Nice team... Still has that lopsided game feel to me...

Well, so then it's win/win. Actually, win/lose. It's a push, right? You get one of those teams into the semis but not the championship matchup I'd really like to see.

I'm also going to rant a bit here.

[rant]The MSHSL needs to take Marketing 101. The top story line in this tourney is WBL trying to break that curse. You do not take that team and give them a first-round matchup in a 1:00 game against one of your other better story lines (the strong northern team coming down to St. Paul in March). Give WBL a prime-time slot. Match East up with Blaine (a team that beat the Hounds during the regular season) for all I care. Channel 45 can't be pleased with this one, either.

Boo.

it's still random... otherwise I think Blaine would be playing Eagan (unless you think Blaine should be the #7 team even though they've actually tied and beat some of the top teams this year.) But it is very close to being an actual seeding of 1-8

This is just about the best possible outcome for EP. They get LVN right away against whom they played one of their worst games of the year and still won 7-4. Then its the winner of Eagan/Moorhead. You knew Eagan would be 4 and even though they beat us it was early in the year on the road when they were struggling a bit. With the drive in these seniors I'm not worried about that. If not Eagan then it's Moorhead whom EP absolutely handled in the SLP tourney en route to an easy 4-0 win. Should be a fairly easy road to the finals for EP. Edina DE semifinal would be a great matchup.
EP two out of three.

I say it HAS to be random. Blaine a 7 seed? I think not!

Well I think they should just hand Eden Prairie the Championship trophy then right now and why bother playing the games..I mean EP should probably be playing Division 1 right, I mean how could anybody possibly compete with this superpower team...GIVE ME A BREAK!! I will be the first to admit EP is probably favored to win but lets not get carried away, especially in this year of the upset.

I agree. To make it look worse 3A has drawn the #1 seed the last 3 years. Either admit you're seeding them 1-8 or go back to a random draw.

I had Blaine as my #7 seed by the way, WBL was 1 behind them in Page2stat and with the Bears beating #1 Hill I bet they jump Blaine.

I haven't posted the updated ratings yet, but yes, they did jump Blaine.

This could be a very, very fun state tourney. the afternoon session is going to be phenominal! Don't count Blaine out, and the moorhead vs. eagan game intrigues me a lot too. Haven't seen Duluth play so I'm not going to predict a first round curse breaker for white bear just yet, but hey.... you gotta be a little excited if you're a supporter of the orange and black!
