Game of the year: 6AA final EP over Wayzata
Player of the year: Kyle Rau
Performance of the year: Nick Malvin, Blaine. 41 saves in the 5AA final over MG
Coach of the year: Les Larson, Breck. They lost a lot from last years team and many thought would have a mediocre year, but they're back to the Tourney for a 3rd consecutive season.
Team of the year: WBL, regardless of how they finish, they shocked almost everyone with their Friday night OT victory.
Best moment of the year: WBL finally getting past Hill
Sportsmanship award: Bill Lechner, if anyone saw what he said in the StarTribune about the loss, he showed great sportsmanship.

Game of the year: Eden Prairie over Wayzata in 2 overtimes in the section final. Was the best high school hockey game I watched all year between two of the best teams I saw play all year.
Player of the year: Kyle Rau - Eden Prairie. Although I wanted to give it to Tyler Heinonen of Delano because of his complete snub by the Mr. Hockey committee.
Performance of the year: Charlie Pentz - St. Cloud Apollo. Had 47 saves out of 48 tries while making several acrobatic saves in route to Apollo's upset of Little Falls in the section quarterfinals.
Coach of the year: Tim Schnobrich - Proctor
Team of the year: Eden Prairie Eagles
Best moment of the year: #9 Apollo over #1 Little Falls. One of those upsets you had to see to believe. Not the talent that was in the EP/Wayzata game, but it was a treat to be at.
Sportsmanship award: Brian Lavelle - St. Michael Albertville. Not sure if this is sportsmanship as much as being a true team player but I feel it deserves mention. Lavelle was a senior forward and captain for the Knights. Injury and illness forced all three of STMAs goalies out of their section quarterfinal against St. Cloud Cathedral. Lavelle made 56 saves in their 16-1 loss...and did it all in good spirits.

The Apollo/Little Falls game had a bit of everything in it with great chances and defense and amazing saves, definitely deserves a nod for GOTY. I also like the mention of the St.Michael player, it takes a true team player to do something like that, espically a senior.BobSaget wrote:Game of the year: Eden Prairie over Wayzata in 2 overtimes in the section final. Game of the year: #9 Apollo 3-1 over #1 Little Falls in the Section 6A Quarters. Already been dubbed the biggest upset in State History (by many).
Player of the year: EP's Rau
Performance of the year: Has to be the 102 save performance by Becker/Big Lake's junior goalie Alex Darsow in a 4-3 triple OT loss to River Lakes in the first round of the Section 8AA Playoffs.
Coach of the year: Bemidji's Wade Chiodo
Team of the year: We'll see after the battle at the X.
Best moment of the year: Apollo Holding off LF after a tough 2OT win a couple days earlier in the section play-in game. SCA's goalie Charlie Pentz stopped 47 of 48 against LF.
