Hermantown next year...
Seems odd this was never brought up during the season, but in the Hub's story on Hermantown it commented on how few seniors are on the team this year...five. The Hawks have the team/ability to win a state title in a rebuilding year. They will return their #2 scorer; will they be even better next year than they are this year?
Re: Hermantown next year...
well its they havent even made it through state yet, but just for you i will give your answer, hawks will have an amazing team with some awesome talent, BUT yes there is a BUT their achilies heel will be the goaltending, from watching their back ups i highly doubt that there will be a suprise find like they had in conor lucas, so it may end up looking like the 07-08 08-09 years :/ although they will have solid defense and some serious fire powerHShockeywatcher wrote:Seems odd this was never brought up during the season, but in the Hub's story on Hermantown it commented on how few seniors are on the team this year...five. Agree with everything you said. Goalie will be a huge hole next year, but the blueline will be the strength of the team. No Sophomore goalies this year and only one real junior goalie. Only one goalie coming up from Bantams and he should not be much of a factor. But they should have a very good offense and outstanding D corp.2good4u wrote:well its they havent even made it through state yet, but just for you i will give your answer, hawks will have an amazing team with some awesome talent, BUT yes there is a BUT their achilies heel will be the goaltending, from watching their back ups i highly doubt that there will be a suprise find like they had in conor lucas, so it may end up looking like the 07-08 08-09 years :/ although they will have solid defense and some serious fire powerHShockeywatcher wrote:Seems odd this was never brought up during the season, but in the Hub's story on Hermantown it commented on how few seniors are on the team this year...five. Talking about a team and their future is garbage now?SCC2009 wrote:we have been waiting all year for this week...and you bring this garbage up before teh state tourney is over? lets just enjoy this week and next week we can talk about it.
Most teams, regardless of ability, are senior heavy. Hermantown is a great team. They could easily win state or go 0-2 and that wouldn't change what they are bringing back. My apologies for discussing a team who hasn't lost to a Class A team all season.

and that returning crop for Hermantown may very well be the reason Eden Prairie has decided not to schedule Hermantown (the only Class A team on their schedule) for next year - with the real possibility of a "re-building" year in EP where they were just taken to the last 5 seconds in OT in their own building by a Hermantown team that had just 5 seniors as mentioned.
OK, I look fwd to a full day of hockey Friday...should be a great day of hockey.
